I had another one about a human expedition to an alien planet that wound up meeting Daleks, I think, but I can't remember anything else about it. There might have been a primitive humanoid race there, too. I suspect that doesn't narrow it down much. Death to the Daleks I've worked with a lot less than that: I once identified a story by the description "the episode ended with the Doctor drowning in baked beans"!

REVENGE OF THE CYBERMEN IS FUCKING BRILLIANT AND I WILL TAKE YOU ALL ON!!! -Ralph Hate to agree with Ralph here, but I agree with Ralph. It does show us one thing... Despite getting all emotions removed, Cyberman can still be camp.

The book was one I read once and never again, and I know I read The Tenth Planet more than that. I think it was that the ending tied into real world events (The great fire of London, if I remember correctly) as the Doctor was leaving. That was an ending that stayed with me. I had another one about a human expedition to an alien planet that wound up meeting Daleks, I think, but I can't remember anything else about it. There might have been a primitive humanoid race there, too. I suspect that doesn't narrow it down much. Never watched Tenth Planet (or what remains of it) but I think I'd like to try reading it again one day. Wonder if the library has a copy? Tenth Planet as a tv story is a bit boring, apart from the cool Cybermen designs and the regeneration Death to the Daleks is awful on tv THEY ARE BOTH FANTASTIC!!! -Ralph

"Tell me, would you let a small band of semi-savages stand in the way of progress?" "Well, progress is a very flexible word. It can mean just about anything you want it to mean." This week on Forty Years of Tom Baker's Doctor we're watching Doctor Who episode 496 The Power of Kroll: Part One 40yearstombakerdw.blogspot.com/2018/12/496-power-of-kroll-part-one.html

Who can say? I thought I heard a familiar blast noise in the trailer

Unfortunately this was in the papers a few weeks ago and I ran into it without realising. I actually hoped it wasn't true.
Phil's right. It was well hidden, but it's there.

I thought it was screamingly obvious from the initial trailer. Maybe someone has put up a rocket up the arse of the promotional folk this time!

I see from DWM that the forthcoming Warriors' Gate Target audio is an expanded version by Stephen Gallagher based on his original manuscripts. Think I might get that one. Target books were always special when they had 'extra bits' in.

I did get the rewritten David Fisher audiobook version of Androids of Tara (I think it was that one). There was also a rewritten version of Unearthly Child done as an audiobook (read by Chesterton) but it never came out due to Audiogo going under. They do this from time to time. -Ralph

Indeed. Stones of Blood is a new version too. I just think with a story as complex as Warriors' Gate that an extended novelisation might reveal further depths. Amazon says it's 4hrs 30mins, which is on the longer side for that range. State of Decay (for example) is just over 3 hours. Logopolis is 4hrs 15mins.

I am interested in it.
I haven't heard many of the Target audiobooks as BF pump out so much DW material they tend to absorb the time/money I have for audio Who!
