I think Chibnall has been the weakest writer the show has had this series.

Plus-7 figure for finale and average series ratings are in: www.doctorwhonews.net/2018/12/the-battle-of-ranskoor-av-kolos_17.htmlWe won't have the full picture until all the Plus-28 figures are in (which are the final consolidated ratings). Very interested as to how the New Year's Day episode will fair. Eps 1-9 of s11 had a decline week on week until a small uptick for episode 10. So far we can see that the live figures and overnights are up a tad on Capaldi's run and the audience share has been decent. AI's are down across the run. -Ralph

The stories about it being made and specifically who wrote it, are infinitely more interesting than the actual story though.

There seemed to be an awful lot going on, and not much going on, all at the same time.
Betrayals and triple-crosses and why didn't the scientist fella just tell everyone else that the Cybermen were coming, if he was working against them the whole time?

It's not easy padding those stories out to four parts.

Revenge of the Cybermen is terrible. People only claim they like it because it was the first story released on VHS so it has a lot of nostalgia value. Also Wookey Hole caves

Of course, the positive is that if you can sit through Revenge of the Cybermen, you can survive almost anything
(The only stories that defeat me are The Dominators and The Visitation)

I have watched REVENGE OF THE CYBERMEN many, many, many times. I love it. All 20th century Cybermen stories are good.

Of course, the positive is that if you can sit through Revenge of the Cybermen, you can survive almost anything (The only stories that defeat me are The Dominators and The Visitation) I actually quite enjoy The Dominators. There is some very good byplay amongst the regulars, and the Dominators themselves are quite entertaining. Angry young Dominator getting progressively more annoyed by not being allowed to just blast people (which would actually have allowed them to pull off their plan after all!) is great. Visitation. however, is...not great Karl

I had the novelisation of Visitation as a nipper, I believe. I liked the ending.

Am I the only one here who likes The Visitation? I remember really liking the novelisation. As a tv episode it should only be average, but I find it so amazingly dull I'm not sure if I've ever watched it all the way through despite owning it twice on DVD.

The book was one I read once and never again, and I know I read The Tenth Planet more than that. I think it was that the ending tied into real world events (The great fire of London, if I remember correctly) as the Doctor was leaving. That was an ending that stayed with me.
I had another one about a human expedition to an alien planet that wound up meeting Daleks, I think, but I can't remember anything else about it. There might have been a primitive humanoid race there, too. I suspect that doesn't narrow it down much.
Never watched Tenth Planet (or what remains of it) but I think I'd like to try reading it again one day. Wonder if the library has a copy?

Tenth Planet as a tv story is a bit boring, apart from the cool Cybermen designs and the regeneration Death to the Daleks is awful on tv
