Today's Guardian has a free copy of Whizzer and Chips, a reprint of a 1978 issue.
I wonder if this could be an indication that they're planning to relaunch it.

Nope.
The Guardian have been giving away reprints of vintage comics for the last week: Beano, Tammy, Dandy, Roy of the Rovers, Bunty.

Have they? I hadn't realised.
I never much cared for Whizzer and Chips anyway. I liked a few IPC comics, like Cheeky and Big Comic Monthly (I think that was its name) but I was more of a DC Thomson boy. I had both The Beano and The Dandy regularly, along with another one that was launched in the 80s that I can't remember the name of. I don't think it was Hoot, I think it was something else.

Have they? I hadn't realised. . I completely forgot to say! Another reason to like the Guardian. Good international coverage, excellent photography and sometimes free comics! Give me that over tabloid bilge any day. -Ralph

Guardian readers here too mainly due to my wife's leftiest social worker leanings.

IIRC (from The Guardian's The Guide a few weeks back) The company producing the reprints is also doing bumper sized compilations for Newsagents. They've done Battle and some girlie stuff, but there's a big Buster compilation due soon.
