SPARKABOTS/FIRECONS!
Your thoughts?

Much to my dismay, they did NOT belch a stream of fire to terrorise my primary school classmates with!!
But I have a soft spot for them. What's not to like?

Like how the Firecons all folding up nice - but Guzzle broke within a year.
fold the Firecons head down & the legs up then the hands backwards to rest on the legs

Guzzle must surely win the award from most simplistic ever transformation!

I love my wee Firecons. Got them a while back, and they remain perched around the house. Their sparks don't work anymore, but they have heart. Oh and they look pretty terrible, which means I love 'em.

I'm in two minds. When I was little I liked Sparkstalker, but always thought I couldn't transform him properly since his robot mode looked so bad, and it made me feel stupid. Ho ho little did I realise!
On the other hand, I loved lining up my annuals to make a board that he could roar along, blasting out sparks! So all my old annuals have track marks on them
So yeah, I think they're all bloody awesome

I love the Firecons. Three of the most awful Transformers/transformations/alt modes ever- but just so funky you can't help but like them! Got mine a few years back. Sparkabots don't do anything for me though.

The G2 Sparkabots put in an appearance at the Swincon meal.

The G2 Sparkabots put in an appearance at the Swincon meal. There will be some at Autoassembly too! Just got one more of each though! I actually like the G2 Sparkabots far far more than the duller G1 ones.

I remember having an argument with a school friend after reading Marvel UK TF #152 because he reckoned the Firecons were going to combine into a large robot (as he'd seen with the Seacons)!
Imagine if they could, though!

As long as they still had to slide about on their belly to make fire I'd buy them.
Andy
PS The G2 ones were great I jsut wish there had been a G2 Guzzle.

The Firecons' emergence pretty much marks the decline of my childhood interest in TF. We'd had so many good characters over the previous few years, with only a few terrible ones. (I consider the Battlechargers to have the most disappointing robot modes up to that time, but at least the alt modes were reasonable.) And then along came the Firecons, who had nothing good going for them, except for the sparks. The alt modes didn't have the saving grace of being anything good, and the robot modes were Battlecharger bad. Nope, I hold no affection whatsoever for them

I wonder how the Firecons were received in countries like the United States of America where the Monsterbots came out the prior year?

This may be of interest to a few of you, then. There's an auction on eBay for Flamefeather and Cindersaur. There are currently no bids, with the starting price at £1 and postage at £2, so you *could* pick up the pair for three quid. I think the fact that I'm passing along the good news rather than picking up two G1 toys for pennies probably illustrates well my dislike of them cgi.ebay.co.uk/Transformers-Generation-1-Firecons-/150447014314?c

One's missing the wings. You also have to ask "does the sparking gimmick still work?"
Though I seem to remember the ones at Swincon were struggling with that ...

We managed to get some sparks out of them in the end, but it goes to show that even if something is MOSC, doesn't mean it'll still spark which makes me think that the actual sparking mechanism is something that degenerates over time rather than over use.

Are they still allowed to make toys with the spark feature? We have had the characters in new toys but should we see the spark unit within a future toy - or is it banded like how Optimus smoke stacks are
