Week got off to a bad start.
If I'm still employed next week I booked Wednesday-Friday next week as I'm really run down. Was hoping to book a wee trip somewhere but I just costed 3 days in Cardiff but that seems too pricey. Will try another location after dinner.

Oh bollocks to that. A 3-day break in the UK seems to cost the Earth. I'll do some day trips instead. -Ralph

Right. Fine. Day trip to Inverness booked for Wednesday 7th July. Leaving the Burger at 6.33am, leaving from Inverness at half six at night. Gets me away for a few hours and a nice train journey for under £30. Yay.

Another time, you're always welcome to my spare bed, Ralph, even for days when I'm working and you want to prowl the streets of Cardiff solo.
(Edit: Though actually I'm doing an overnighter in London on 7 July, so that would have been the exception to 'always'.)

It has been a while since I was in Inverness, but it was a nice town when I was there last and the run up there by train is quite a good one.
Realised this morning that I have a public holiday this weekend - Friday and Monday off, giving me a four day weekend. I must endeavour to find some fun things to do with it should the weather be good.

I've been to Inverness a few times. I gather that the Tesco there is now so huge residents now say "Tesco's got an Inverness" rather than the other way round.
I'm back in Philly! Flight got off to an awkward start- I bought sooooo many Botcon toys I needed to tape the box-sets (inside a bag, naturally) inside a cut-open box for protection and strap them to the top of my lighter suitcase. Bogatan and I made it up, and if I do say so myself it was a job worthy of the A-team.
By the way, A-team is a really good movie.
Anyway, when I stuck the case/box hybrid on the scale at the airport the check-in bloke said "not a chance" and told me that I could take it as a third item of luggage for the bargain price of $100. I said no chance, so he suggested I take it as a "personal item" along with my backpack. It seemed a bit big and was awkward as hell to carry, but I narrowly avoided getting stopped by security with it by deploying a cunning diversion, by which I mean that I forgot I had a water bottle with 1" in the bottom in the dark recesses of my backpack.
As we were boarding an announcement came that all the overhead compartments were full, so anyone with large hand luggage could hand theirs in at the desk and have it stowed in the hold at no extra cost. I was up there like a shot, and now I have my two suitcases (groaning with toys, both of them) and my armoured box-sets sent straight through to Glasgow at no extra charge! Raise da roof!
My flight here in Philly is delayed 20 minutes, but that gives more time to be sure my cases are on board and means less time sitting around trying to stay awake in Manchester before my final hop up north. If Manchester doesn't blow up and my cases aren't on fire when I arrive then we may just be able to say that the travel curse has finally been shaken!
Wish me luck boys and girls, and I'll see you all tomorrow (sort of).

I'm going to be spending most of this week unpacking and sorting out my new place. I lugged back some new shelves yesterday evening, hopefully that'll be enough. I am fed up of living out of boxes.
This also means I'll be selling off a lot more of my stuff, which will be a pain to catalogue!

Hello Sportsfans!
Big rough men in leather shorts are re-doing our central heating/boiler stuff this week. Well, they're not that rough realy, they're actually quite friendly. And they don't wear leather shorts, don't know why I said that.
Hasta Lasagne!

He entered radio silence several hours ago... We will have to wait until he finishes aerobraking and has settled into orbit before we can receive any further transmissions from him..... Karl

Apologies for the suspense, fellow Hubbers! I am relieved to report that I am home intact and with all my luggage. I have a haul of ridiculous proportions that I will have to itemise tomorrow after I've had some sleep. Heading for bed soon as I have been up now for...
hmm...
um...
...thirty... five hours? The lack of sleep seems to be adversely affecting my IQ. Probably best not to do anything complicated until tomorrow morning or, perhaps more likely, mid-afternoon.

I handed in my notice at work today. I've been a round peg trying to fit a square hole and I just couldn't do it anymore. I don't have another job to go straight to. Long-time Hubbers will know of my struggles to get work over the last few years. I just hope I don't come to regret this. My health is important to me and I hope I find something more suited to my way of working soon before my money runs out.
