Mmmm, looks like I did too good a job at prep for this afternoon's interview last week because on checking my notes it seems to have sunk in properly. Gah, too much free time. I always much prefer it when interviews are in the morning.

Wow. That took 1 hour 50 mins approx (2 panels and a presentation) and went by in a flash. Great people, would be a brilliant job, would love to work there. Will find out a week today.
Taking rest of day off, tomorrow will be preparing for Thursday's interview.

I even got some Transformers/AA chat in there in a relevant way, which went down very very well. I was on fire today. I'll be gutted if I don't get this one. Compared to the last 2 places I went to for interviews, I was totally pumped to go work there.

I've been de-stamping that gigantic box that was covered in hundreds of foreign stamps. Not got that many good ones off since most were covered in parcel tape, but a decent amount still.
Does anyone know what I can do with them? I know someone mentioned that some charitys take stamps in.

Went on a jaunt to find the location of Thursday's job interview (as I always do beforehand). Glad I did as the one train an hour issue posed a problem but handily found but once I was there I found out that there's at least one bus that goes there four times an hour. Hurray. Finding it harder to get in the frame of mind for this one as I am anxious to hear about the last one but I am sure as usual the deadline will concentrate the mind tomorrow.

Today at work I have declared 'Wet' day. I shared it with a female colleague (not that the fact she's female is relevant to it being 'Wet' day, it was just a nice touch). It featured incidents involving water. Some times people and water. Some times people in water trying to get out people already in water (Everyone was ok). I didn't get wet myself, though.

Had some trouble getting on-line this morning. Helpdesk was no use, triple checked all the connections, ran virus check and I was getting stressed (when computers don't work, for some reason my levels of anxiety just go through the roof) but then I thought a system restore to before the last windows update might work. Which it did. Why can't you just have simple easy displays that tell you these kind of things.

Really excited about the IDW colouring contest this month - it's the first time I've entered and the pic is a page of LSOTW #1 so I get to have a go at colouring hi-res Nick Roche art! Been spending about 2 hours an evening working on this beast. Sadly I've only got as far as finishing the flats and adding basic shadows to Springer.

Laptop died... but soon to be replaced thanks to the wonder of Home Contents Insurance!

there's just something about computer related problems that makes the red haze desend instantly. I third that sentiment. Especially when it's my parents' computer and they're ringing me from another city asking me what to do. This time I inadvertently managed to provide an answer by making them think of checking the 2-year warranty, which turned out to still have a week left to go, so they took it back to the shop for repairs. Hurrah! But now my mum's bought a laptop and a wireless hub, and I've never used one of those, so I'm praying they find someone else to set it up for them rather than ask me to instruct them over the phone.. I must admit that I don't find myself getting particularly exercised about computer problems, most of the time. Which is fortunate given that my laptop can occassionally be a little bit flaky.
That said I haven't had too much call to do the remote support thing - my sister being the only member of the family who even owns a computer, and she tends to make her own arrangements there - so I have been spared that dubious pleasure.

I am often asked to provide tech support.
I don't mind, but sometimes it is presumed that you will drop everything you are doing to help. Usually friends of the family that do that and it raises my hackles.

I missed an interview couple weeks back due to strep throat. I've since managed to reschedule it for August 5th, so here's hoping, as it's only the second one in two and half months so far. Will have my last day at the old job on Friday and it can't come fast enough. My replacement is here and it's just murder trying to get her up to speed on things. How the hell does that idiot who fired me think I can cram all this stuff into this poor woman's head in one week? Add in an extra heavy load of samples and equipment failure and I'm going to have a heart attack by the end of it.
Jesus I'm actually looking forward to being unemployed so I can get some sleep.

Hmmm. I really can't tell how it went. Panel weren't giving anything away. Will be told this time next week.
As I approached the office a mumbling man with a beard walked by. I was staggered to see that on his jacket he wore a Penny Farthling round white badge with '21' in the middle, just like one of the inhabitants of 'The Prisoner' TV show!
