Couldn't find any local jobs today. I'm considering things like call centres etc but they all want previous experience.
Ran a general search for employability jobs in the UK and a temp post came up for Cardiff. So I thought: 'bugger it' and gave it a go anyway. Worst that can happen is that I get a trip away for a day I suppose.

This afternoon was Day 4 of my exploration of the volcanic expanse of Holyrood Park and today I went to the very top of Arthur's Seat. Absolutely spectacular views. I recommend it to anyone. I would have happily stayed up there for a good while but I had to get back in time for the flat owner visit of great mystery.
While I was up there I saw a couple of peaks I haven't been to yet so they too must be explored.

...the visit lasted under 2 minutes and would have been shorter had I not insisted he look around properly. I think he was more nervous than I was.

Is it because you were just wearing your underpants?

Bit of writers block here. I'm trying to write about a G1 toy and I can't get any enthusiasm going. I've done the bits I needed the toy in hand for, describing the features and the TF etc. It's just the commentary on the modes itself aren't coming.

I'm sure it will. Hopefully before Jonathan wrecks the toy. I started work on this one a couple of days ago hoping to have it doen before we went to London but it's some way short. However as I said I've got the mechanical bits of what the toy does done it's the sort of descriptive detail and opinion to flesh it out which, if all is well, I should be able to do without it in front of me. In unrelated news Liz has secured two more sets of stacking shelves to help tidy the loft. When it's done I'll get some photos done. I'm aiming to get all the toys and boxes of toys off the floor as well as having a unit with all the GI Joe stuff in.

I think Ken took some pics when he was last here but hopefully it'll much more user friendly after the re-org. You'll be able to point at shelving units and say "here be Micromen" etc.
Are you interested in seeing the first loft of joy in London?

I recommend it to anyone. -Ralph In all the years that I have worked in Edinburgh I have never actually been up Arthur's Seat. That is something I must rectify at some point. It looks very impressive from the ground, and I dare say it is just as good when you are looking down from it. A very draining working day today. We are working up towards getting a new database, which involves a lot of cleaning of our existing data before the eventual transfer. It is very much an all hands to the pumps situation. This week is only the start of the process and already deadline pressure is making itself felt. But my day was brightened by the fact that my tickets for the RAF Leuchars airshow have arrived this afternoon, so I have that to look forward to in just over a week. I have also got myself a new mobile telephone so can now send as well as receive SMS (my old one was beginning to glitch due to age and harsh treatment). In a stunning display of upgrading to last centuries technology I now possess a telephone that can be flipped open a bit like Captain Kirk's. I guess my net upgrade would need to be to one that is worn on the wrist like Blake..... Karl

And there are various routes. Pictures don't do it justice. The view from the top is mind-mangling. You can see all of Edinburgh and out as far as Fife. I advise checking the map in the car park so you know which bit is the highest as there are various hills. -Ralph

Applied for a customer service advisor job with Scottish Gas this morning. I can piss about trying to get into a sector of work (socially responsible support type work) that doesn't seem interested or I can eat. It occurs to me that the last 3 years have been a complete waste of time. Why am I so desperate to do a type of work that is either very stressful or that I can't get jobs in?
Who knows, maybe I'd like it. Though I struggled with the maths questions so I may have flunked the app already.
