I think Chris Weston's art is bloody gorgeous and Judge Pin is an interesting foe for Dredd.

Case Files 34 Cover www.amazon.co.uk/Judge-Dredd-Case-Files-34/dp/1781086915/Unfortunately the text is wrong: we know the volumes starts 1250. Slightly shorter creators list than the one Amazon had too So that means v34 starts with 1250, Helter Skelter, and looks something likeLOTS of stuff already out in there! There's some info to be gleaned from the 34 solicitation aboveTo have a Jock drawn issue the volume needs to contain Prog 1273 Safe Hands. To have a Wayne Reynolds drawn issue it needs Meg 4.09 which means the voulmes includes 4.07-4.08 Flippers. Pete Doherty means EITHER Meg 4.09 Dead Lost In Mega - City One and/or 1275 Born Under A Bad Sign. 4.10 isn't in there, no Mike Collins in the Art list Rob McCallum means 1279 Wallcrawlers is in the book - it's the only Dredd he did. So Progs - up 1279 Megs at least 4.08, possibly 4.09

Villains Special has arrived!
I hadn't realised until I read the Megazine that this was a FCBD submission that wasn't accepted, so they've put it out at 99p.

Indeed. I recall Tooth had problems being accepted by FCBD before. A real shame as their yearly special has become a highlight at the event. But a comic of all new content for 99p is not to be sniffed at in today's market. I thought the Slaine related strip was the best. Re: Megazine. Lawless appears to have jumped the shark since the Big Revelation. -Ralph

The special is US size (which some previous FCBD Tooth issues have been) and I can't see anything different about the content that could have caused a problem.

The previous problems were down to the physical size of the issues, which they altered to comply. I get the impression this time the FCBD people just didn't want two from Rebellion. I get the Treasury being promoted through it - good idea - yet the actual FCBD issue is all reprints of old strips.
The fact the new ReGened issue is a regular prog also seems odd to me. It can only stand as a curio for regular readers like that, wedged in the middle of ongoing stories. The target audience of younger readers can hardly come back next week for more of the same, so what purpose does it serve being inside the main prog? It's like Rebellion had a plan for specials this year which altered and left them with commissioned work without a home. Perhaps the Ezquerra special was a late addition that knocked out one of the others. There do seem to be a lot of special issues this year - six at the last count, plus the regened prog. I wouldn't mind betting that the Treasury issue, the Villains one and the Regened content were all FCBD submissions - three separate issues - but for whatever reason only one was accepted.

Yes Regened being a regular Prog did puzzle me. Why promote an all ages issue when the next one won't be? And it seems odd to have it out for just a week!

Seems a waste to me. Should have been an Easter special or a FCBD issue. But then Cor! Buster was the Easter special and there are two more in June: the Ezquerra one and the Tammy/Jinty one. The Regened one being a special £4.99 prog feels like a way to offset the loss on the 99p villains one. It's like they thought, if we did that the other way round and made the Regened a 99p special, far fewer people would buy it than a 2000AD villains special. I reckon they were all supposed to be FCBD books, with the treasury one being a cheap addon because the content was already paid for.

Villains special - the art by Chris Weston in the Stix story - that was amazing. Best thing in the book by a country mile. Weakest was the Brand and Brass story - didn't think the art was quite the right approach, and the lettering was poor.

Fortunately they send you warnings at the start of every month for the three preceding the debit, so I tend to put aside forty quid at the start of Feb, March and April and then when the full amount goes out at the start of May it isn't quite so bad. It's still a very expensive sub.
Regened issue has just arrived. Premium feel. Really think this was originally supposed to be a standalone issue.

True, but none of the strips in this are US page format. I reckon this was supposed to be a UK news stand summer special. It's the most obvious fit for the content.

I agree with Pinwig. Regened clearly meant to be a Special right down to the glossy cover and different logo. A real shame. It'll only be out for a week and who will notice other than regular readers?

I’m just a bit into regened but loved Full Tilt Boogie, one of the new strips. Dredd reads like any other Dredd and even has an exposed brain so the All Ages tag is dubious. Maybe it’s a bit of a back to basics original launch feel.

I read this story relatively recently when I bought a Starlord collection a few years ago. I can see why this would have been troublesome to clean up - lots of murky greys in the shading.
