A.D. 2027:
A lone Quintesson wanders deep space, lost for centuries in the endless void. While drifting between galaxies, the Quintessan exile discovers the Dark Essence -- Unicron's core program -- and is virally infected by it.
The possessed alien mutates painfully into Dark Nova and, compelled by evil instincts it cannot (and no longer cares to) analyze, it travels through hyperspace to Earth. There it rushes to Alaska and raises the fallen Decepticon Galvatron from his icy tomb.
Dark Nova exhumes the frozen tyrant and, without even defrosting him, induces protomaterial fission — a time-lost phenomenon akin to cellular mitosis. The seething, screaming mass of protomatter splits apart, coalescing into two fearsome Transformers...
Super Megatron

Dark Nova places Super Megatron in command of an army of Novaroids and Galamen and sets them loose upon Earth. Galvatron II, meanwhile, is sent to the far side of the universe, to scheme and plot in reserve.
Many years later, Galvatron II makes his move. Having salvaged and replicated Bludgeon's Warworld, the reborn "emperor of destruction" lays siege to the galaxy with his fleet of dreadnaughts. His unexpected revival prompts rumors that he hails from another dimension, and heralds the return of legendary heroes...
