My Dad has some VHS recordings that are precious to him and which he would like to have copies of on DVD.
Does anyone have any experience transferring one to the other, and if so what options would you recommend for a not terribly technical person who doesn't want to shell out hundreds for an all-in-one VHS/DVD recorder machine?
Thanks in advance!

1) Are they shop bought or home made recordings?
2) Does he have a functioning VHS & DVD Recorder?
If the answers are home made and yes then it's as simple as linking them via a scart cable, setting the dvd recorder to inout off the scart socket and pressing record then pressing play.

Thanks, Phil. They're home made, I believe. But presently we do not have a DVD recorder (except built into our computers). Can you get decent ones these days for two-figure prices? Martin

Amazon or sellers on amazon seem to have them from £50.
Alternatively you might be able to transfer straight to a computer depending on what equipment you have to hand.
If you have a minidv camcorder you can transfer video to to dv and dv to pc.

Thanks, guys. I suspect that Phil's method is the one that will win the day in terms of possessing sufficient simplicity.

I think Jessops may offer this service.
If the worst comes to the worst and you can copy vhs to vhs, my brother has one of those vhs to dvd machines and might be able to help.
