Well it's an extra bank holiday but do we really need one now when Easter's so close to the first May/Philmas one?
Extra bank holidays in late June/early July would be useful.

I am off, but a couple of parents of kids in Piglet's class have organised their children's joint birthday party for the time it's on, possibly on purpose, we're not sure. We prob would have watched it for Piglet, but I must confess I'm not that interested. I wish them all the happiness in the world of course, but just not my thing.
Anywho, Hello Sportsfans! Back to work today for me after nearly 2 weeks off. Had a great, busy hol, our last realy as a 3, so we packed lots in for the First Born. I was dreading bankhol carnage today at work, but thankfully had a steady day.

I shall be ignoring the royal wedding, personally. People I have never met or know get married every day but don't ask for my help in paying for their happy day. They would have my immediate respect if the Royal Family agreed to foot the bill for the additional expenses in police operations etc for it rather than the taxpayer.
But I hold no ill will against anyone who wishes to enjoy the Big Royal Wedding Day. If it makes you happy, go for it and make the most of it.
Alas, as my office is almost literally a stones throw away from the big event getting to and from work on Friday will be a logistical nightmare as the area will be shut down. I have 75 mins TOIL pending so I shall try to take that at the end of the day and be out on visits as much of the rest of the day as possible!
Went back to work today and knew I had properly relaxed while off due to not having a clue what I was doing and being generally befuddled. Pelted at full speed to catch a preview of Thor (in 2D, naturally) straight after work. Enjoyed it, and may go see it again due to the fabulous unlimited card thingy. Actually, that viewing in itself cost be nowt!

As my office has given us the option of either taking this Friday off or adding it to our holiday entitlement I will be working on the 29th and will therefore have better things to do than think about the wedding of two people I don't know. (Something that happens at least once every working day anyway and has never made an impact on me before).
I shall be taking the days leave later in the year to enable me to do an airshow or something equally interesting to me.
I have been on leave last week and am not back to work until tomorrow. Ah well, at least it is the first of two four day weeks so it should lessen the shock to the system.

Yep.
At my place of work we report for duty on public holidays unless we've put in a request for it as an annual leave day (and enough folk are left on duty) so all public holidays are added to standard annual leave entitlement. My work added on the royal wedding holiday day on to the other holidays for the year.
We don't get paid any extra for working on public holidays (such as today) but that's just life in the charity sector.

Same for me when I worked in retail.
As far as the wedding goes, I am not too fussed about it either. I'll be happy for marraige of course because it is quite an experience (Its mine and George's 10th anniversary this June).
I think maybe so many public outlets are going overboard and expecting us to care like its the second coming of Christ or something. If it does' raise the spirits of someone and is the shimmer of light in the sea of constant bad news in the world then that's fair play. Congrats to the two people I don't know getting hitched, but I won't be buying the jigsaws and other ridiculous royal wedding tat that's doing the rounds. I got other more important stuff to me to think about.

Wait, is that even legal? Yes. They don't even have to give it to us at all - it is at the employers discretion. There are only five statutory bank holidays (Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Years Day, May Day and one other that I don't recall). The others are customary ones that employers may grant or not as they choose. The 29th has been declared as an additional non-statutory holiday, like the first day of the Trades Holidays, Victoria Day or what-have-you so employers may grant or not grant it at their discretion. Got back yesterday from a pleasant four nights with my family in Bristol. Glad to hear that all Scots visitors made it home safely.
Arrived home to find my IDW Best of UK Omnibus and Titan City of Fear sitting on my mat. For some reason I had got it into my head that 'Destiny of the Dinobots' had been reprinted in Best of UK Dinos #6, but no, apparently it was the US story 'Repeat Performance'. Never mind - the Omnibus is still a nice little package. Meanwhile, City of Fear has inspired me to write my fourth and final story about the 'Deluxe' Autobots and Insecticons before shifting my attention on to Death's Head.
I have zero interest in the Royal Wedding, but I still think it's a Good Thing (and fine that tax-payers pay for the policing, etc. - as they do for major football matches, street protests, etc.) as vast numbers of people will get pleasure from it, and, indeed, make money from it. I know lots of people who are looking forward to street parties, etc. and I'm sure it's a boost to the tourist industry. I hope it all goes off peacefully and no idiots exploit the opportunity to make a scene. Not really fair to ask the Royal Family to pay for it, as it's not for their benefit that it's being made into such a big thing. It may indeed be two people we don't know that are getting married, but most of the people enjoying watching it are people that the people who are getting married don't know.
But I shall be spending the morning doing a pond survey in my local nature reserve, lunchtime at a free organ concert in the museum, and afternoon at a celebration of a work colleague's new baby in Fonmon Castle.

Already, the roads are shutting down near the Wedding Waste of Time. Work will be so much fun on Friday (sarcasm).
I now go to attempt to jog to Sainsburys. Pain awaits me.

First day back at work over and done with. I seem to have spent so much time running backward and forward between different ends of the office that it feels like I have been leaving a blurred trail of images behind me this afternoon like a comic book Speedster.
Ah well, one day down and three to go.

Meanwhile in week 17 Liz woke me at 5:30, having failed to wake me during the night when Jonathan woke up. She'd been on the floor of his room but the pain from the pulled muscle in her chest had not made it a comfortable experience. So I'd listened to an episode of Doctor Who before 6am this morning!

Been tempted most of the night to go downstairs and watch the 4th part of Gunfighters. I have been awake since 3am getting Blaise back to sleep.
Thankfully it is Nanny Day and her nan comes to collect her 9.30. I could then indulge in the said classic Who action before blanking out on the couch.

Been getting nuisance calls again from people doing a bad job of pretending to be from Microsoft, Insurance and Sky and then also doing a bad job of pretending not to be a sales call. Usually it takes a reminder to these people that our landline is registered with TPS (Telephone Preference Services) www.tpsonline.org.uk/tps/what/I have to put my baby down to anwer the phone, so if I have a call on the landline it should be worthwhile. Usually a polite white-lie of "I'm Renting the property I live in" or "I don't have a computer/sky TV" makes the caller hang up immediatley. It is bothersome that people are selling residential numbers to companies for thier viral phone spamming operations. Surely that is illegal. On a brighter note, I got Blaise off to sleep and she is happily snoozing. ===KEN

Mental and exhausting week comes to an end for me today.
On reading that the deadline for fan film entries for this years botcon was early May got me thinking I wanted to enter something. Then from nowhere I had a plan. Take the G1 season 1 titles and replace the lead strike jet as Actionmaster Thundercracker and replace the main Autobot in each shot with Erector and give Megatron an orange safety cap in gun mode. So I ripped the DVD last week. Wednesday and Thursday were almost non stop animating about 20-30 hours work.
Friday the family went down to Norfolk for the easter weekend. My Aunt and Uncle had hired a manor house or at least a converted stable yard in the estate to celebrate my cousins 21st. First time for 3 or 4 years so many of us had gotten together and it proved to be an excellent weekend. Culminating with some Clay Pigeon Shooting. Only downside was Dads new car breaking down 8 days after buying it. It had to be towed home. Luckily my brother had come in his own car.
Got back Sunday evening and since then have spent another 40+ hours on the animation. Its finished and sent. Its utterly pointless but I love seeing Erector in the Sunbow cartoon.
