Day shift today for Shockprowl. More Christmas shopping injuries, I'd wager.
I use ear plugs and a slumber mask when I'm tryin' to sleep between night shifts. Ear plugs do the job, even mimimise the noise from the Piglet, apart from her latest fave game which is to shout "HEY" at great volumes. They do generate tremendous decabelness for ones so small!
(how do you spell decabell?)

I did enjoy being woken at 8am today by the very loud DIY from upstairs. FFS! I would have thought common courtesy would preclude such aggravation before 9am at the weekend but apparently not.

That's the rule me and Mrs Shockprowl stick to with our renovations. Nawt before 9 AT THE VERY earliest. Usually it more like half 10, and finished before 5. It's only fair!

Our lovely neighbours (no irony intended) often start at 6am. Thank God we sleep on the other side of the house. Although it's kinda annoying when we're marking or something.

It's like living in a building site today. My head is killing me. I would go out for a bit but feeling a bit nauseous so stuck indoors.

I have that to look forwad to next month when they start demolishing and rebuilding the petrol station behind my house. I decided that it was too nice a winters day to be inside today - so I headed up the canals for a stroll this morning. Past a few folk walking their dogs but apart from that it was just me, the swans and some ducks (including what appeared to be an Eider Duck - which surprised me, its been a few years since we had those around here). Lovely way to start a Sunday. I'm just in from some pottering about in the garden - wanted to cut back the Heebies, but all the books say wait until they stop flowering. The slight problem is it is December and they have shown not signs of ceasing to flower as yet...... I think I shall head into the kitchen shortly and sort myself out a corned beef pie for Dinner. Should not only do this evening but I can freeze the rest of it to do meals in the week quite nicely. Karl

Get well soon.
I don't have a stomach bug but I have felt physically pretty grim most of yesterday and today. Damn annoying. A pox on the space lurgy, a pox I say!
I will be very, very, very glad to see the back of this week for various reasons.

A pox on the space lurgy, a pox I say! Don't say that, or you may get a pox on top of your space lurgy! Get well soon, everybody. Dr Martin prescribes a hot bubble bath and mug of tea to each sufferer. Martin

Get well soon all!
I'm in for a 1600 to Midnight shift, keeping men, women and children safe in their homes. And posting on The Hub! Nice short shift this one. Usually work at least 10 hour shifts. Much preffer 12s, get ones hours in- more days off! Three rest days after this looking after the Piglet.
The family Shockprowl had a walk also this AM, to a farmers market in town. Bought loadsa yummy stuff inc some fresh veg that still had soil on them! Always seem to taste better! And some Stilton and Pork sausages that Piglet and I promptly consumed for our lunch. Mrs Shockprowl's a veggitarian you see.
First job of the shift was a young chap who'd lent his hand against a wall and impailed it on a rusty nail that was sticking out! Ouch! He's alright though.

Yep, Ratchet's my buddy. I am infact an Emergency Medical Technitian, or EMT. It's the first of the two levels of emergency Ambulance personage. You're an EMT for a coupla years, then you attempt the exam to start your full Paramedic training. Sore point actually, they're changing all the training. Should be better when they eventually get it all sorted (which knowing the NHS will be next century- hu! Did I say that out loud?), but it's frustrating 'cos after three years I'm chompin at the bit to get the extra skills. Soon enough. Great job working for the Ambulance service actually, I consider myself very fortunate. For one you get to drive REALY fast. If you have a quiet day you can just sit around, watch TV, drink tea, post on The Hub etc. And every now and then you get to really help out a fellow human being, which is all extreamly zen. Lots of politics though, they treat us like they're treating the coppers at the moment.

Quick last week recap. Work went well. Saw Beuwolf in 3d at london Imax very cool, then straight after saw Transformers also in Imax. I tried seeing it a few months back and the screen screwed up and was covered in 20ft high bits of dust. Most distracting.
This time nothing impeded my view of 300ft tall Megan Fox. That was my 6th and likely last time of viewing at cinema. Still enjoying it. I think it equalled or maybe passed the number of times I watched Serenity at the cinema.
