Except when you've had 3 bank holidays already in 2 weeks this one doesn't seem so special.

Today was Day 1 of Month 7 at current workplace. This was significent personally, as I pointed out in the office to folk, as I guess this means I passed my 6-month probation period then or I would have been told not to turn up for work today!
I celebrated my seeming stealth victory of apparently gaining permanent employment for the first time since 2007 by, er, just doing stuff.

Another public holiday for me to look forward to on the 23rd and 24th as well.....
I have spent most of today either going into and out of town for things for the garden or out in the garden beavering away. The end result is... no, not a dam, an array of new tubs out in the garden. Two contain developing carrot plants (chance of survival to actually produce edible carrots? Slender), whilst the other two contain runner bean plants lashed to bamboo poles to encourage them to grow in the correct direction (chances of surviving to produce edible beams, probably marginal). There are also another six or so bean plants and some, purely decorative, Busy Lizzies to be planted once I get some more compost (I've gone through 60litres of compost this afternoon and exceeded my limit for carting stuff about).
A very productive day all told, and it was nice to be able to sit in my chair and look at the new pots sitting their in my garden. And try to work out where on earth I am going to accommodate the other beans and the Busy Lizzies once I get them planted up...

Colonoscopy scheduled for Monday. That was quick but it's short notice and eeeek, they're going to stick tubes in me. Again.

Gah, not nice, Big Phil. Hope it'll give 'em usefull info at the very least.
Hi Sportsfans!!!
Garden still distracting me from getting the house decorated before Wriggler arrives! Oh well! Planted a Honeysuckle yesterday! YEAH! It's gunna hopefully grow around my erection! Make it look pretty!
Taught Piglet her first bit of Karate this evening. It's very funny watching a 4 and a half year old combine karate, tap dancing, and some sort of what I can only imagine is a dance based on monkeys. Crazy monkeys. Crazy monkeys on drugs.

I will now watch an episode of CAPTAIN POWER AND THE SOLDIERS OF THE FUTURE very day while eating dinner. I don't know why.
Oh and on the way into work, a dead bird fell out of the sky and smacked into the pavement just in front of me. Unusual.

I now have another eight bean plants in my back garden I don't care what they've been, what are they now? No, BEAN plants... oh never mind. Between carrying the compost back from town, a quick dinner, squaring away my monthly grocery delivery and then getting the plants potted up and tied to the canes it seems to have occupied most of my evening. Nice to sit down with a nice cup of coffee finally. One more days work planting out still to be done - need to get more compost and plant out the Buzy Lizzies so as to encourage some colour in the back garden (other than green, not that there is anything wrong with green).
Mind you, I need to do some thinking about where they should actually go because the garden seems to be filling up quite fast.
Phil - congrats on a fairly permanent solution to the lawn problem! Mowing is not an activity I am particularly fond of either, which I why I have never missed having a lawn here.

Congratulations, Ralph, on your six-month victory, happy birthday Phil, and karma to Karl for your valiant punning efforts during the course of this thread.
I called in sick today, for the first time in three and a half years. Yesterday morning I was emptying myself from the top end, due to gluttony and possibly consuming something dodgy over the Bank Holiday (though it could have just been too much rich pudding). Anyway, I should have taken yesterday off, but I had two important meetings, so I dragged myself in (least fun walk ever), threw up again in government toilets, somehow managed to get through the day and got a taxi home. Feeling quite a bit better today, but staying home just to make sure.

Had to call in injured today. No idea what I did but my thigh has been playing up a little since Sunday. Last night it just seized. Tried walking to the bus stop at 5 am and knew I wasn't going to make the post bus walk to work so came home. Been to AandE told not to worry but have super strength Ibuprofen to reduce the swelling which appears to be the problem.
Could have done without the problem, and just hoping it settles down quickly.

Today I learnt that there's Bonjela, and there's Bonjela Complete which forms a solid adhesive bubble over the ulcer. I opted for Iglu gel, the cheaper brand equivalent of Bonjela Complete, and spent the afternoon with my tongue numb and partially glued to the side of my mouth. But it made the pain go away! Now let's see how I get on eating my dinner... Martin

I have been weirdly lethargic and sleepy since Sunday afternoon and, very unusually for me, have been crashing out early each night and have even almost fallen asleep at work a few times. Yet I feel otherwise fine. How very odd! Very weird, can't explain it at all!
It pales in comparison to Bogatan and Martin's injuries this week, however, and will hopefully pass soon.
In other news, having lost and then found my postal vote for today's election it was too late to post it. Thus, I had to hand it it at the polling station, rather negating the point of a postal vote...
Interestingly, I had originally opted for the postal option as I can't be arsed being harangued by candidates at polling stations on the way in, which had immensely irratated me on previous occassions. But as none of them could be arsed turning up, this turned out not to be a problem!

I got asked for my number on the way in. Unfortunately I'd got up a good bit of momentum, had to look to one side to see what this woman wanted, lost my balance and keeled over. That rather put her off.....

Sorry to hear of the woes of Martin, Andy and Phil. Seems like a week to forget.
Review time at work, always dreadful, too busy but done now. Had my Friday off as I work Saturday this week. Went out for a run today, ostensibly between 15 and 17km. I ended up doing around 19k due to getting lost on a bloody cycle path and missing my turn off. argh! It appears that since I hit 34 my sense of direction has completely abandoned me!
Felt very ill after it, had what can only be described as bowelapocalypse. Pain and discomfort, I ended up lying down for a couple of hours.
Right as rain now, bit annoyed at it, as I would have liked to have got a few things done today after my run, but still happy that my training for next half marathon has had a nice boost, and I shall kick on from here. Quiet evening in, ahead of work tomorrow methinks.

In a move that surprises me, I have 5 days off in a row at work coming up soon. 3 days off from June 1st plus the weekend yields this unexpected boon. Huzzah.
Still feeling very lethargic, but almost certainly just a strange temp thing so it worries me not.
