Painting has finally started at HeroHQ. In a weeks time, we should get our lounge and kitchen back. And even after that there is lots of moving and other furnishing work to be done.

After being not-quite-ill I decided to keep myself busy instead. Worked well until today. There was groaning and vomit - thankfully not when I was out. Feel like I'll be OK tomorrow.

Hello Sportsfans! Here's hoping for a sexy week!
I forgot to tell you chaps that Piglet was in a dancing show last week! Not sure how to explain it realy, it was like a funky version of Alice in Wonderland but with mondern songs. Piglet was an ant, and the 3 of Clubs! She found it tiring but she absolutely loved it, and we've had nothing but shows for the past coupla months, including her convincing me to work out a 'Space Show' for Christmas. I'm a Black Hole in it, apparently.

Having finished last week not feeling terribly great I am starting this week feeling much better. After an all-action Scotcon weekend I started today lounging about on the sofa watching a DVD before getting stuck into another load of sorting out.
I seem to have somehow gone from having one large box of stuff for the Shelter shop to having two of said boxes sitting in my spare room over the course of today. Still got more to sort through as well but I am making a lot of progress and it does feel very satisfying to being really cleaving through things a bit.

First day back at work today. Sadly I didn't sleep too well last night either. Not sure exactly why, just one of those things that happens sometimes. As a result however I have had to scrub my original plan to go and see Ghostbusters in the cinema - I think I will be spending a little bit of time quietly on the couch followed by an early night.
I think I might be getting old.... have I told you about the rust in my knee and how my arm hydraulics ache when it gets cold.....

3 nights of insomnia have left me in a strange place to the point where several colleagues begged me to get some sleep. Perhaps writing amusing post-it notes on monitors, phones and bags of novelty peas may have been too much.

Hope you are both feeling better soonish.
I hit the sack pretty early yesterday evening, I was still wiped out this morning though. Did manage to get through a days work without nodding off mind you, so I am doing something right. Spent the early evening watching Brave and the Bold - Batman teaming up with random DC heroes for mostly-lighthearted adventures is always good for unwinding. A Doctor Who audio later whilst I do some more sorting through things I think.

Halfway through the working week.
Wooo. Hasn't been too bad so far. Still having to go in early tomorrow so that means they owe me 5 hours. Getting tricky to get that back now. Argh.

Once again I have been super absent, this time the last three months have been a stressful ride of dealing with the aftermath of my Dad being clocked by a car while cycling to work. Four weeks in hospital, four weeks in brain injury rehab, he's now three weeks out and back at home and just heard that he will be allowed to go back to work in a couple of weeks. It seems, with some residual issues, he'll largely be okay, but it was sure hell from day to day while he was in hospital, wondering where he would end up. Add to that my Mum having her fourth serious spinal surgery just two months before Dad's accident, and I'm really hoping for a quiet and uneventful rest of the year.

Congratulations Ken!
I sent in my "alumni form" to KAUST detailing what I did and what I plan to do next. I said I was moving on to a Ph.D at Iowa State. I hope that's still true. The research I was originally lined up to do has lost its funding and I've been emailing round professors trying to find something else before the deadline expires. Of course, my professor didn't tell me the funding was gone until three weeks after the deadline. Let's see what comes of that, shall we?

Dinogrrl, Blimey thats a rough time glad things appear to be settling.
Ralph hope you get some sleep soon.
Congrat Ken and good luck Nick.
I'm feeling reasonably happy with myself today after almost a year I think I have sorted my phone issue. The monthly package was meant to include internet, but never has so I've had to call up and get it added and get them to issue refund when I have been charged for it. Finally today I spoke to some one who knew their job and it was sorted in 5 minutes with the added bonus or a £15 apology which works out at nearly 2 months free.
Asda actually contacted me about going back to work for the first time so hopefully it means a decent income over December which will also be very helpful. Until then I have about 100 Transformers lots to go on ebay and then a stack of lego and some video games. If it all goes the house will finally be a bit clear of junk. With the redecorating done the house will look decent for the first time in a few years.

Dinogrrl, that is rough indeed. Hope that the parental units are both on the mend.
Ken, congratulations on the graduation!
I was sleeping so well until something woke me at half-past two this morning. Don't seem to have had quite as much benefit from the back-half of the nights sleep as I would have liked. Ah well. Day and a half to the weekend. Time to line up my planning for cinema trips this weekend I think, give me something to look forward to.

My brain is gone. Typically, my bouts of insomnia rarely last more than a week so won't be much longer. Planning to catch up on some films at the weekend and to do the Chrimbo shopping in one fell swoop on Sunday morning.

Congrats to Hero! You Rule!
I have been stripping wallpaper. I love it. I love it so much. I love it so much I want to do it all day every day all the time forever and ever.
Oh, and what colour do I find under some (but curriously not all) of the walls in the lounge? Possibly the WORST colour I have EVER SEEN. Yes, possibly the WORST colour I have EVER SEEN! It's it's, I can't find the words, it's like the colour of a milk-only-diet baby poo, for those of you with babies and baby poo. A dark mustardy shitty colour. Dear One Above All. It's awefull. Why? WHY?!?!!!! WHY PAINT A ROOM THAT COLOUR?!?!!!!! *sobs*
