The week starts stressfully with *someone* applying the postage labels directly onto the box of a toy I'd sold. Fortunately the were removed without damage.

As much fun as I'm having clearing my toys out, and as much as my bank manager is appreciating some cash going in, I was reminded this morning of the real reason I need to do it when I slipped down the loft ladder. Only one step, but it was enough to shake me up and remind me that it's getting too hard for me to do now.

Woke up this morning to the first snow of this winter lying on the ground, and more falling out of the sky. Proper winter weather at last!
There was nothing lying when I got to Edinburgh this morning though and I fear that it will probably all have melted by the time I am able to get home this evening, which is not so good.
Ah well - it is nice to see a bit of snow and it has cheered me up quite a bit.

The Burlesque on Saturday was a Good Thing. Watching a young lady do a routine to Deftones' "Change (in the house of flies)" has possibly made my year.
No snow this far south though, although it didn't seem far from it last night.

I don't enjoy the cold weather as I work out of a freezing cold office (which reminds me, I need to get fingerless gloves so I can type) and then spend much of the day in the cold out and about. No wonder I feel generally unwell.

So this has been my Monday. If any of you have been in Asda in the last week you may have noticed the huge Transformers DOTM shipper. Optimus Prime in truck mode. While at work I decided to ask if it had been claimed by any one. It had. So after work on Saturday I went around the other three Asdas in the area the first had also been claimed, the second only had the trailer. The third had not and I left my name and number and told it would be taken down Monday evening and I should come in for it then.
Then I screwed up. I sold 3 transformers last week and when I came to pack them over the weekend I could not find them. On Saturday I also posted off another box of Transformers it weighed about 500g more than I had expected, I thought I had gone crazy with packaging at the time so paid the higher price and sent it on its way. Then I continued not finding the first 3 transformers and suddenly it struck me that the extra 500g might have been the missing toys.
On Sunday I lined up at the post office in Asda at 10am and asked if I could have the package back to check it and was told No you must contact Parcelforce once they pick it up on Monday.
So this morning I call Parcelforce and am told the post office was wrong, the package is mine until it is collected so I call the post office and arrange to go in and have a look before its collected. I wasn't to happy as I now had to pay for a bus to go in. But anyway I went in and as I arrived I saw two member of staff taking apart the Transformers Shipper. I ran over and told it was being binned and if I wanted it I had to take it now. So I was further annoyed as everything I had been told on Saturday had proven untrue.
I eventually got them to not trash it for half an hour. I grabbed a taxi to my brothers work and stole his car, for some reason I had picked up his spare key before going out. rushed back to Asda and spent 30 or 40 minutes dismantling it and dragging it right through the store and gale force wind. After it was finally loaded up had queue at the post office and get my box. Took 20 minutes but I did find the toys in it and was able to take them and return the package. Then I just had to rush home unload it and return the car to my brother before his lunch an take two more buses home where the house was over run by sheets of prime coloured cardboard.
Now I just have to work out what to do with it.

To my great surprise there is still snow lying in Falkirk this evening. I was worried it would all have melted by the time I got home but there is still a light dusting of white - which is rather nice.
Realised that I have some holiday days left after accounting for Christmas and the New Year, so I have decided to take an impromptu long weekend at the end of this week. Not for anything particular - perhaps potter around the house, watch a load of DVD's, do some reading, or go to the cinema. Not really a plan as such but I may as well take advantage of the leave whilst I have it.

I had a consultation at the hospital today, I have to have a mesh inserted into my body which will help knit the hernia back into place and the mesh will be a part of my body for the rest of my life. I have to now wait for an appointment for surgery.

I, too, have just returning from a hospital visit. I have been informed that my body is fine and will continue to be for at least 8 weeks, at which point I should return, just in case.
Hurrah for modern medicine!
No mesh for me, though.

Is the mesh metal?
Can you stick magnets to it??

Liz says you can't stick Magnets to her leg which has a titanium plate in it.

The new Thundercats toys have magnets in them. Does Mrs Ayres have the power to unlock magical features in weaponry, vehicles and buildings?

The never ending roof leak continues to never end, and now they've cut a hole in the ceiling of the second bedroom, ostensibly in order to see where the leak is coming from, but with the added bonus of it facilitating leakage onto the carpet. Installed a small bin under it to collect the water, only to turn around and find that water was also leaking out of a ceiling mounted fire alarm in the main bedroom. Cue second bucket and me listening to water dripping in buckets all night long.

Owch. Not good Dinogrrl. Roof leaks are not fun. Last time I had to live with one it was into my kitchen (cue changing bucket on the worktop every morning before I made my morning coffee). You have my sympathies for that.
We had rain overnight in Falkirk, rain enough to wash away all of the snow that was lying around. I woke up this morning and there was nothing left. This did not make me happy.
I did manage to make and throw my first snowball of the winter yesterday though, so I don't feel too deprived.

I don't have a leaking roof but I do have a warped double glazing unit in our bedroom that is letting far too much cold air in!
Went to see our little Innkeeper in his nativity play today. A talent for improvisation and a technical aptitude were revealed.

*snowball thrown yesterday from Falkirk lands at Martin's feet* *picks it up and tosses it back* *Carefully snatches snowball from the air, puts a little backspin on it and sends it arcing Swindonwards* Two more days to go until my long weekend. I have got a fair amount of work done today, but don't actually remember the exact details of any of it. I have clearly been quite productive, but I don't really have a specific memory of exactly what I did in the case of each particular task, as if my brain has just tagged that information as "not for retention". Most odd. Karl
