*watches snowball fly overhead*
No leaky roofs but the windows let a draft in something fierce. May call landlord type people on Friday (next free day) and see what can be done. I dunno, in the hot weather they paint the windows shut and now...

Apparently you can get draught excluder type tape to go round windows. I will be investigating shortly.....

I pays my rent! These thing should be done for me! *rant rant dribble*
If I didn't have a wall in front of half the main offendee window, I'd be tempted to do that myself. But I have such odd windows.

In my experience, letting agents operate from an assumption that the renter will deliberately damage the property at will, and little else.

It's full on Time Wars out there and I need to get the boy from school. Only a sausage sandwich can fortify me for the task ahead!

Yeah that went well. Jonathan fell of his scooter at the library. Then he spotted Mum's car at a friends hosue and had to stop. And cos we stopped I siezed up. So Liz had to drive us home.

Sent home from work at half-twelve this afternoon due to full-on Time Wars weather being forecast - the trains were already well and truly to pot by that stage and for a while I wasn't sure I could get home.
Got back eventually and sat down with a late lunch and a warm coffee. Heating has gone on and I figure to spend the rest of the afternoon under a duvet on the sofa whilst the house tries to warm up.

Account thief stopped. Now confirmed. How I'll get my new card I have no idea as it is sent by courier, can't give a delivery date and they won't send it to work address. Fuck sakes.
Did get sent home early due to the weather (I was out and about and it seemed ok to me) for first time in working life. Novelty somewhat taken away by anxiety over my money being stolen. Still very tense. My exit home was delayed by me having a panic attack in the bank.

Hurricane Bawbag in action Andy A shame you have the lurgy Anduy, hope you are feeling better soon. That is an impressive Property Damage snap you have found though. The wind continues to howl and bluster outside my house, so I did the sensible thing and retreated to my sofa with coffee and a tosh film where Liam Neeson gets to punch people. Passed the afternoon quite agreeably all told. Sorry to hear about the bank account Ralph - glad that the bank have managed to catch it before too much damage was done though. Karl

Feel better sick and cold people. Sorry 'bout the theft issue, Doc', that's horrible.
Brave Scottish Hubbers! I hope you all make it through the Storm! Pretty ghastly here in God's Country, but not as bad as our Celtic neighbors, I fear!
Oh, in other news, I have a beard.
I have a beard and I'm loving it! 'Tis was a holiday beard that I decided to keep. Mrs Shockers doesn't mind how it looks, but she does not like how it feels. Children appeared unimpressed. Work colleagues are split down the middle. Some like it, others don't. My hair's fairly long at the mo, and they're saying I look like Jesus! Or Geoff Capes, Grisome from CSI, or one of the Bee Gees. So I generally happy with all of those!
Any one else got a beard currently? Maybe I should start a beard thread.

Well here I am, cheerfully avoiding the work Chrimbo 'do'. I stopped attending workplace related functions a while ago. I learned my lesson after various events with various employers. I just can't be bothered with them at all.
I have pepsi max and may treat myself to the weekly takeaway later.

Well here I am, cheerfully avoiding the work Chrimbo 'do'. I had the first of three today. It began at noon and is still going, but I always escape at the point when it moves from a sitting-down-relaxed-quiet bar to a standing-up-crowded-dancing-noisy-bar. Next Tuesday I have an evening meal 'do' and next Friday a mid-afternoon drinks-and-buffet 'do'. All with different groups of people. The Friday one will once again involve an escape at the point when it moves from eat/drink/sit/speak to drink/stand/dance/shout. Martin

Martin It's always easier to avoid when the thing is out of standard working hours. I once annoyed a previous employer by refusing to attend a Christmas lunch during work hours and stayed in the office instead to do work. There was some surprise when I logged off at the usual time. -Ralph

They aren't for everyone. I always jused to eat the free food and leave.
Many years ago we went to a hotel for a do.
Eight people at the table. Phil arrives with a reputation for eating.
This is what I ate: two starter salads a plate of turkey with(and I will be honest) NOT ENOUGH roast potatoes, sausages wrapped in bacon & stuffing.
Then 8 christmas puddings were ordered
one person had theirs the rest were put in front of me. I surrendered after 5 1/2.
Was so ill the next day it was untrue.

There was a staff Christmas "do" for my place this evening. Not everyone was attending, and I am one of several who are not going. I will be going out for lunch with my immediate team the week after next, but that is as close as I tend to get to the massed Christmas events for various reasons.
To be honest I was too tired this evening to contemplate hanging around for two hours in Edinburgh before the meal, and then drinking afterwards. I have come home instead and intend to spend the evening watching some television on DVD before turning in at a reasonable hour. I think that the various stressful and trying events in my life in the last eighteen months have finally caught up with me. I have realised just how tired and run-down I have been feeling for a good little while. My long weekend off gives me a chance to have a think about some minor lifestyle changes I want to make to help get myself back on a better keel. Starting with a few earlier nights than I have been having to see if I can get my sleep patterns adjusted a little bit.
