Anyone use BBTS' Pile of Loot?
I'm curious as I've just turned it on on my account, and when I bought a couple bits, I get charged shipping right away.
Does the next time I add an item to my pile get charged shipping as well and the charge get removed?

I do.
From what I understand the US system charges you $X per parcel + $Y per kilo (or whatever) I think X is around $20
You're charged full shipping on the first thing to go in the PoL. Any additional shipping charges for the extra weight as extra items are added are made when the extra items are paid for.
So add a basic TF to your PoL and the shipping costs probably won't change, unless your already close to the boundary for the next weight level. Add fortress Maximus and they'll shoot up.
Whatever happens you only pay the $20 initial charge on the first item.
That may or may not make it clearer!

BigBadBlunder? Ok, this is a first and in spite of the title, I'm not complaining… could be they assigned the wrong tracking number to my order, could be the clerk at the sorting facility in Poland selected the wrong "P" and didn't notice… Or it could be that bbts shipped my stuff to the Phillipines? Highly doubt it.. my shipping address is correct… am waiting on CusCare to get back to me… but check out this tracking info: oi42.tinypic.com/333fr5g.jpgPete (not in tue Phillpines)

Poland, Phillipines... they start with the same letter. Easy mistake!

Hmm… now the package is in San Franscico! I'm starting to envy the damn thing. It's been to more places on Earth than me… this should add a lot to the value of these guys…

What are BBTS like when ordering from the UK? Is there a postage method that weaves past CUTA?
|
|
|
Post by Philip Ayres on May 2, 2016 23:24:55 GMT
No.
Experience suggests almost every BBTS box over the limit WILL get customed.
They list their values in dollars which makes it easier for the customs monkeys to do the maths.
Had excellent services from them over many years. Still use them occasionally now but preordered product tends to get snapped up very quickly and, with the customs risk, it,s just not worth it now that there are UK based alternatives.
Having said that they were the only people who would do me the Generations Book exclusives!

The thing I'm after is non-TF and I can't find it anywhere else so unfortunately there's no UK based alternative. What's the approximate CUTA charge on $120.
|
|
|
Post by Philip Ayres on May 3, 2016 8:22:48 GMT
$120 is aprox £80.
20% of that is £16
+ £12 handling charge = £28
+ 20% on the shipping cost

But the charge amount can be pretty random anyway.

I think we've pretty much got it cracked these days.
20% of cost + shipping
PLUS
Charge (8 normal, 12ish tracked)

The variance on charges is why I stopped importing toys. I had no idea how to budget for the CUTA.

It has been a while since I used BBTS but my recollection is their deliveries never were that quick. However my box dispatched 15th November, which I foolishly didn't put tracking on, still isn't here and I'm starting to think it's gone missing.....
