I recognise the Wordy character, but I don't have any recollection of watching that. The one I remember vividly is Charlie from Words and Pictures because he used to scare the s**t out of me. There is is still something about that character watching this clip even now that I find deeply disturbing. Interesting though, the BFI seem to be doing a lot of releases of obscure BBC sci-fi/fantasy. I didn't know there was a play for today of this Alan Garner book either.

I always found Wordy to be just a bit sinister. Music by the Radiophonic workshop if you can't tell! And Lord Griffiths of course.

I remember Wordy and Charlie. I seem to recall being more fascinated than alarmed by Charlie, and Wordy just seemed to be a sort of hovering robot-thing and therefore quite neat.
