I used to just use the 'squint'method' with Transformer alternative modes. So Powerglide was just a small jet, Seaspray was smaller than Jazz so he was just a small (but functioning) hovercraft. Pretenders were big humans so going by that logic it makes sense for Micromasters to just be small vehicles. Action Master vehicles are MASSIVE!

I'm really enjoying reading these UK stories and comparing them to the Hachette ones at the moment. JP has done a fantastic job with the colouring. I was just reading his explanation for his choices in the back of volume 16 - having all this in context makes it all make sense.

30 Years Ago This Week: Issue #224 Wanted: Galvatron - Dead or Alive - Part 2b: Reprinted from #114Aspects of Evil - Galvatron: Rodimus Prime and his friends return to 2009 after the conclusion of Time Wars to find the timelines healed and Galvatron in charge of the Decepticons. Galvatron goads Prime by showing him Blurr's severed head. Enraged, Rodimus attacks him. Prime's fury is abated by Arcee, much to Galvatron's annoyance, but the future Rodimus of 2356 reveals that although he triumphed over the savage within him at the time, his actions would have dire consequences. Elsewhere, Transformers undergoes a slight page reshuffle to put all the black and white content together in the middle, meaning the July calendar pages (featuring Robin Smith's cover to #129) need careful dissection to remove them; the Marvel checklist reveals that issue one of the Sleeze Brothers is on sale now; on the letters' page more readers are annoyed by the shift to black and white stories; and Colin takes a break from saving the world to introduce his new fanclub, complete with membership card and nine exciting badges to cut out, colour and wear.

I remember being quite disappointed with this storyline. The Timeline reverting and Galvatron being alive, well, and in power. It all of a sudden seemed like Time Wars was all for nothing. And I'm not a huge Blurr fan, but randomly killing him off in such an inglorious manner seemed rather empty. Nice cover though.

Such a quick-thinking 'bot would have seen it coming and made the necessary mental preparations for a controlled decapitation. Martin

30 Years Ago This Week: Issue #225 Headhunt - Part 1: Reprinted from #133Aspects of Evil - Shockwave: Shockwave attacks Autobot City on its opening day in 2004, determined to kill enough delegates to destroy the alliance between humans and Autobots. His logical plan doesn't account for Hot Rod's illogical actions however, and the brash young Autobot throws himself at Shockwave, knocking them both off a cliff edge. Shockwave can't cope with Hot Rod's recklessness, claims his plan is ruined and retreats. Elsewhere, the comic is still shuffling its pages around to keep the black and white content together and this week it's Combat Colin that pays the price and appears in black and white; sinking under reader protests, Transformation is finally forced to come clean and admit Marvel can no longer afford to print the comic completely in colour; on the letters' page, reader Stephen Rue of Hamilton offers 'Why did Hi-Test go to the Doctor's? Because he kept on getting Dread Wind!' as a joke; and the Micromasters competition from issue #200 is repeated with another 200 sets on offer to lucky readers who can answer six taxing questions.

Those questions are unusually tough for a TFUK competition. You'd need to be a long term reader to answer the first three.

Trailbreaker featured in the story. Navigator/Man Of Iron & Jazz starred in it I'd say.

Also, given Dreadwind's general inability to answer any question about continuity properly since Furman's departure - who wrote those questions?

Trailbreaker featured in the story. Navigator/Man Of Iron & Jazz starred in it I'd say. Trailbreaker had more lines of dialogue than the Man of Iron. And Navigator only appeared on the last page and slept through his one and only scene! Martin

Martin Indeed - and I'll always remember Trailbreaker when I think of Man Of Iron - he was (to me) sort of a 'newer character/toy' than the others for some reason - perhaps because he didn't feature much in the original U.S. strips. He also had his awesome forcefield ability that he...forgot to use in this story. But it was all about Jazz (and nightmare Mirage).

Yes, Bluestreak was certainly the mightiest in this one! (Optimus also turned up and did some exposition and not much else too) Man Of Iron is one of the best Transformers stories ever!

It should be made into a film! The Last Knight in many ways is not far off being Michael Bay's Man Of Iron!

Well, I did prefix it with "Michael Bay's" for a reason! It makes me think of comedy sketches where you'd get the trailer for, idk, Sam Peckinpah's Pride and Prejudice.
Give someone like Bay some of the superficial story elements of Man of Iron (Transformers visited earth in a time of knights, influenced mythology, and in the present day their long-buried spaceship is sought after) and I think you'd get something like TLK...
Now admittedly TLK is my favourite of the TF movies, though I hated lots of things about it and like all of them have no intention of ever watching it a second time, but obvs I do not _really_ think it is an adaptation of one of the all time great TF stories!

30 Years Ago This Week: Issue #226 Headhunt - Part 2: Reprinted from #133Aspects of Evil - Megatron: Megatron accuses Bludgeon of freeing Autobot prisoners. Bludgeon demands the right of trial by combat to prove his innocence and Megatron pits Stranglehold, Octopunch and Warmonger against him. Bludgeon defeats his fellow Pretenders, but Warmonger gets a clean shot and falters - revealing himself to be an Autobot agent. Megatron kills Warmonger and reveals he orchestrated the combat trial to flush out the traitor, regardless of who it was. Elsewhere, Transformation gets confused about the contents of the issue and promises an A-Z feature on Prowl and Ramhorn that isn't on page 8 at all; upcoming stories get heavily promoted, including the arrival of new artist Simon Coleby; Colin retains his full page black and white status; and on the letters' page, a comment from Brian Stuart of Dublin reveals the last Collected Comics issue (#12, covering Prey and The Harder They Die) has been and gone without being mentioned in the comic at all.

Very odd that CC12 had no mention when it came out. Checking my copies of this and #13, #12 (summer special) is dated June and #13 (holiday special) is dated July. An odd pattern for a release schedule that's been April/June pretty solidly for the previous few years. Two specials a month apart?

Yes, I was always miffed when they reprinted stuff in the regular title - I probably wouldn't have minded had it not been stuff I'd read.
