Wow, I was completely unaware of that toy. He looks great!

I'd never heard of him either. Very nice version. Better than the original IMO. Looks bit like a super armoured Prowl. Kinda.
EDIT: When I think about it I may have seen it somewhere actually.

One seller had a bunch of them imported from the States at Auto Assembly 2006. I remember them evaporating in about 15 minutes. It's a good looking toy.

In the excitement ahead of Combiner Wars release I took a trip up to the loft of joy and dug out the deluxe Autobot remanents of my Energon collection. Alas it numbers just four toys:
Inferno Rodimus Downshift (Wheeljack) Roadbuster (Inferno Volt, but let's face it he's Grapple)
You know what? these are good fun TFs
They've been sitting on my bedside shelf ever since. Solid chunky deluxes and I'm having great fun swapping them between partners in combined mode.
I start to feel the need to plug some gaps. Unfortunately top of the list is Prowl & Checkpoint which will be £££
I've got most of the basics in the box downstairs. Of the Decepticon deluxe I've got Starscream, Sharkticon & Triggerhappy. Voyagers Energon Ironhide & Cliffjumper sit in the loft with Shockwave. Nothing larger remains. Yet at one stage I had the entire line, bar Unicron, Omega Sentinal & Alpha Trion
Definitely needs to be worked on.

Do you mean Alpha Quintesson?
I feel that Energon gets a really bad wrap by and because of people that can't separate toys from a bad anime. We had a really shitty distribution problem over here with Energon, that was almost on par with what you guys normally face. But usually by hasbro choosing to drastically shortpack this or that character. As a result, I never even saw a nice chunk of the line, so unfortunately it'll always be the least complete of my UT collection. (It's a bleedin' miracle I got my hands on Quickstrike and Mega-Dinobot)

Energon did have some very nice toys, mostly decepticons. It's just a shame I can't really remember the names of many of them!

Mirage looks a good toy from the line (redone Tidalwave in the cartoon) - I'm going to get a bot to merge with Mini-Pie Prime.

Do you mean Alpha Quintesson? Yes I am an idiot. (It's a bleedin' miracle I got my hands on Quickstrike and Mega-Dinobot) Quickstike is fab, the red looks great on that toy Let me tell you about our Energon Distribution: When wave 1 came out here we got the limited distribution toys in the wave. So Sideways, Treadbolt and Magnus. The toys they were replaced by in the US were in a second wave. Unfortunately the boxed stuff sat. Tidal Wave & Ultra Magnus just didn't sell but somehow sold enough for us to get Scorponok and then Landmine solid cased. (did we get Bulkhead? I don't recall) The Voyagers on the other hand..... Treadbolt was onto a looser straight out the gate: Scavenger had been solid packed and had shelfwarmed like nothing before or since. Serious 4+ Voyager waves later you could still see solid cases of them on the shelf and then he gets joined by Ironhide, not the most inspiring toy ever. So Treadbolt doesn't sell. Ironhide doesn't sell either, not helped by the lack of an appropriate sized toy to combine him with. As a result Wave 2, which would have been Jetfire and Mirage, gets canned here. Eventually Wave 3 comes out: Shockblast and Cliffjumper. It sells like hot cakes because A PROPER SHOCKWAVE TOY IN THE UK AT LAST and because Cliffjumper does combine with the still shelf warming Ironhide. So we get UK Voyager Wave 4: Solids packed Energon Ironhide. You can guess what happened. That was that for the Voyagers, and indeed the Ultras at about the same time. No Beachcomber, Mega Dinobot, Wing Sabre, Alpha Q, Overcast, Sixshot, Landquake or Quickstrike, all of which were chronically under distributed and under packed in the US. Wing Sabre 1 per case in 1 case? Come on.... Oddly we seemed to fair quite well overall with the carded stuff: not 100% sure we got Roadbuster, or the last 2 Combaticons/Constructicons but everything else eventually came out here.

>_<
I had a whole huge post written about all my troubles with this line, and how for a time Sentinel Maximus was cheaper than ultra magnus because maggy was soooo flipping rare here. And safari crashed and ate it.
I feel so disheartened because it's so hard to write lengthy posts on an iphone.

I saw that case in TRU but I also remember seeing it in the Entertainer, which you don't have. IIRC Red boxed. Sadly neither our, nor TFW 2005s, sightings threads from those times survive.
There again the previous year you recall plenty of Overload that I never saw.

I am like Phil in that few of the Energon toys survive in my collection. Space considerations mandate regular purges and they were eventually casualties. I didn't realise that the line had a bad reputation in fandom though. I thought that it was a pretty good line, built on what Armada had done in terms of adding play value quite nicely and had some really nicely designed toys - I thought a lot of the Decepticon toys were fantastic for example, and Starscream was one of the last Energon toys to leave my collection.

Energon Shockblast was one of my first Transformers after I began collecting again. Shockwave! Great figure at the time, huge gun arm looks goofy now. I still have mine.

The only problem with e-shockblast is the arm. Just waaay too big. Would have even been a different story if the gun had an elbow joint, like bh shockwave.

I picked up an Energon Shockblast here, pretty sure it was from the Entertainer. Had to import my Wing Saber in the end, well worth it though, lovely mould.

TCfkaRiD is very much is a case of diminishing returns, and potentially is going in my "buy in the sales" pile soon. I used to think I just didn't like the general set up of that stuff, until Scott started playing around in that sandbox. And while the general set up is indeed dull as toast, I realized with her writing that it was all him that was making it feel like having teeth pulled. Costa's run was really boring, but he had the monumental task of salvaging the universe after McCarthy drove it off the cliff, and trying to figure out how to make it work again. Barber's stuff is just boring. And even if the combining autobots weren't your thing, Energon gave us a ton of awesome decepticons with an amazing gimmick, it gave us the omnicons and terrorcons, with their universal energon weapons who's only fault is they weren't supported ENOUGH, and it also gave us Arcee. And it also gave us the first scramble city combiners since G1, which were the last combiners until CW. Even if someone hates the autobot deluxe gimmick, I don't understand how one can write off the entire line because of two or three terrible molds, and shitty anime. This thread may cost me money in missing Energon deluxe Autobots tomorrow.
