You sure this isn't an unfunny April Fools joke? I can't believe even Hasbro were going to rerelease a toy the year after original release in a colour scheme 90% similar to before!

On the plus side it means we can all have one if you dont mind tracking down a Thunder clash and MW Prime.
I cant quite wrap my head around the other hybrid, I suspect it will clash like few other Transformers.

It was a 'hilarious' April Fool (the post was updated). What a fucking arsehole. I fucking hate April Fools. So long as I live I will never understand why ***** think making other folk feel stupid is in any way funny. Attention seeking **** of the highest order. You're also supposed to take down April Fools after 12 local time, 'hilarious' morons!

This is a harmless april fool prank. Easily ignored. It's the bait and switched that annoy me, and the ones I genuinely hate are the ones that are malicious.

Whilst not as annoyed as Ralph, I think the important part of an April fools prank is that it is... funny. The existence of some sort of mildly different Thunderclash is not inherently amusing, so there is no skill or humour in making people believe it is real. At this point, I would say the perfect joke would be a neon pink and lime green Thunderclash... but let's be blunt, that's probably more believable!

Nor do I believe this was any kind of "prank" at all. A similar, but actually clever prank was when fans were snooping around on the club site and finding things we weren't meant to see but FP stupidly put online anyway (botcon Streetstar), they put this up: Then got one of our board members to "find" it and leak it to TFW2005. It would have been hilarious (and deserved) if it had been left for the snoops to find, but the consistency and cleverness of our fandom is so erratic, it probably would have never been found.

I forgot about Clench, I found that one funny. Especially because Monkeefist who I think "found" it was regularly posting fake botcon news.

If it's not funny, or attempting to be funny it's not April Fool's. It is just tedious.
Thing is, so little effort goes into most of these "pranks".

I just never understand why trying to make people believe something fake is real. All April Fools are malicious. Tricking people is just cruel and a sad part of our culture which I wish would just fuck off.

There's geniune craft and humour to be found there. Pointless shit like this just gets on my wick. Andy

One year, Taco Bell took out a huge full page ad in all the major newspapers here, to announce that they had bought the liberty bell, and were renaming it the taco bell.

That one failed my April Fools test as the idea itself wasn't inherently absurd.
As opposed to that one DWM did back in the 80s where they claimed an unaired Hartnell serial would be edited into a Davison story

Never liked April Fool. Like Ralph, I cannot stand being made to feel like an idiot. Before the internet became a thing, I used to refuse to talk to anyone or leave my flat before midday. Just could not be doing with it.
I think they only work online if they are blatantly ridiculous or admit to being an April Fool at the end of the article. The BBC posted one yesterday that did that.

There's an itch in the back of my head, and I'm not sure it was here or elsewhere, of someone finding out a DW was a "joke" years later and taking it v badly.

] Yes, but that is the skill. It is taking something unbelievable and absurd and making it sound reasonable. That's the joke.
Taking something that sounds reasonable and making people believe it is just boring. Like Mr Thunderclash.

The Thunderclash had clues it was fake enough for us to spot.
But it just wasn't amusing at all, just a fake.
Which is a shame because by itself that toy is a remarkably good piece of customs work combining the parts from two different toys.
Which reminds me......

Anybody see the Teen Titans Go April Fools episode where they trick Robin into believing that his parents are actually still alive and waiting for him in his room only to trap him in sellotape and laugh at him while he tries not to cry? Pure class!
