Also, this is where everyone's odd abhorrence to new characters (both fandom and hasbro) really hurts Transformers.

They need to reuse molds to make them profitable, but so many G1 characters don't have reasonable reuses- the Duocons being among them. They could try to figure out how a retool could work for both, do four new molds and call it a loss, or swap the halves (chopper/tank, jet/suv) with new decos, and create autobot counterparts.

There is nothing more exciting to me than recolouring G1-esque molds into new characters. As then you can repaint the original molds into them too!

Also you lose out on potentially cool decos or concepts.
If UT adhered to this standard, we'd never have gotten Cannonball.

There are a fair few TR figures I'd kill to see repainted in new decoes. Give me Misfire in blue or black. Or Windblade in white with powder blue highlights. I don't care if they have to make up a new character for it.

I'm just hoping that the Bumblebee movie will be good and a departure from every film before it. Please Travis, just give us one film full of heart that I can love and be proud of as a Transformers fan.

Resolutions

Continue the resolution of the past couple of years and keep the spending to a minimum! Maybe try and completely balance it out with a bit of a clear-out via eBay.

Redecos of Darkwing/Dreadwind (BB/Starscrem, Smokesniper/GigantBomb whatever)

A second Duocon team gets released. Both get redecos as "Duobots"

Predictions:

Fandom will continue to ignore the fact that we have multiple Transformers lines available at once, continuing to focus on only the one with "G1" or live-action movie characters in.

People will continue to assume that Hasbro has promised them new versions of every toy released in a given year and to be confused when toys that have never been announced are not released.

Resolutions:

Continue my current highly selective buying pattern, and hold my transformers spending down to my current levels.

Look at better display options for some of my favourite toys, and have at least one pass through the collection in the first half of the year to see if anything else can be rehomed/Toy-fud

Source the remaining Black-and-white stories to complete the Marvel comic saga, and do a complete read-through from the very first panel, to the final panel of G2.

Resample the IDW TF comics and see if I feel like jumping back onto any of them.

Errr, don't know really. Been let down on the voyager Strike Plane front which was my Big Hope.

A Titan Unicron.

A Titan Omega Supreme.

Prowls.

Keep the Legends coming. New Huffer, new Warpath. And hope the TERRORCONS are good. Although Headmasters weren't my thing, the figures did look fun, good designs. So I just hope for more fun Generations figures.


PREDICTIONS

Prices rise, distribution drops. But design-wise we get some fun figures. If we can find/afford them.

The Dinobots being delux and the Predacons being voyager will drive me mad.

Table-flipper will be AMAZING (or Dark Shockprowl will return).

Hopes:

I hope we get more Rescue Bots toys. They're genuinely so much fun and I'd prefer the 1-steps to be more like them.

I hope they don't abandon a line part way through like they did with TR. That was terrible planning.

I hope advertised exclusives stay exclusive. Don't charge people a fortune for exclusives then retail it anyway. Oh and for Hasbro to post to the UK.

Predictions:

They'll mess up the BB movie. I have zero faith in the studio to do it justice. Modern BB is a bit of a shambles already and I'm not excited about the yellow and black that's going to dominate toy sections for months on end.

Boxsets will continue to annoy me with their limited availability and high prices. There will be one released that I want to buy, dither over, decide to buy but its now out of stock and cant be got anywhere. That means you Grand Galvatron.

Distribution will take a further dive in the UK meaning if you really want something youll have to pay the retail price on pre-order from one of the importers.

Resolutions:

I plan on dialling back my buying and focussing my collecting a bit more. I'm out of space.

My resolution is certainly to scale back on the toy buying. I've picked up nearly every TR deluxe that I've found (Quake and Getaway have slipped through my grasp), but POTP is doing very little for me at the moment, so that will hopefully help.

Hopes? I really am hoping for good things with the Bumblebee movie, even if the toys will doubtless swamp everything for six months at least. I hope I can get a Trypticon as cheap as Primus and Fort Max have gone for!

Predictions? That POTP will have absolutely shocking distribution and more than one wave will be skipped, leading to mass sightings in TK Maxx and Home Bargains in about 18 months time. And that despite my resolution, I'll still buy all the Dinobots and Terrorcons. <sigh>

I would like to add POTP Nemesis Prime to my prediction list.

I can't tell if it'd be the POTP leader or a repaint of the CW Voyager to fill a Voyager slot, but it's an easy repaint either way.

Might not, given we're already getting evil black rodimus. They may feel that evil black optimus is a little too repetitive for the same line.

Nope on both the buying.

2017 was £3220.70, 2018 is £2233.50 to date, inc £79.20 of deposits for 2019.

Mr Pinwig, is it time for the 2019 thread?

Well, we got three more which is hardly surprising, but nothing quite of the quality of those two. I'm glad all three were done, but the only one I bothered with was Blast-Off.

Failed here, hadn't planned on getting some of the stuff I did. In particular I didn't expect the POTP Dinobots to be quite so attractive, but also good bargains like the SDCC Titans Return set and Chaos on Velocitron threw me off. The Golden Lagoon set also turned out to be irresistable, though in a moment-of-weakness, now-kind-of-regretting-it way.

No eBaying, either.

I did draw a bit more in the first months of the year! But due to personal circumstances it became more difficult and I never got back into it toward the end of the year.
