Ah yes. Those Simba things that so spectacularly manage to miss the core concept of "Transformers". Why do they even bother..?

They don't make Transformers. They make Transformers *merchandise* so of course their offerings will be different.

Especially with the Simba stuff. Radio controlled cars, and other stuff, sure, that's fine. But the little metal cars that come with matching little metal robots, as showed up before... that I don't get.

Be funny if that means Hasbro US are trying to keep the news quiet because they've got nothing new for Toyfair and don't want the UK to one up the meagre offerings they do have.

Hasbro's booth at Toyfair UK is appointment only, no photos. But there again it usually is!

IIRC only Hasbro and Tomy have the rights to make official transforming Transformer toys unless they grant a special licence (which I think has only been done for a few one day specials in Japan). -Ralph

There's electronics in those "energon cube" movie figures that have shelf warmed in Tescos and The Entertainer for a year isn't there?

Well they're USB-rechargeable, so... no need. But other than that, the downfall of those toys was that they were too expensive, and... not very good toys. Not at all. Not even the over-sized legends that they originally looked like.
This, on the other hand, looks like a semi-decent toy that the electronics will actually enhance, rather than detract from the playability. If not for my desire to hold out for a more movie accurate, cuddlier version of 'Bee I'd bee tempted by that.

When Hasbro talks about "simplified younger kid oriented toys," this is the kind of thing I have in mind. Not the 1 step and 3 step stuff. This is what I'd have wanted as a kid. Looks like it might be a pretty fun transformation, too.
I get more hopeful about this movie, every day!

So I wonder if Megatron and Optimus are in these because "we need them in every line evar!!!" or if they're actually in the movie?
I like the look of the legion. And I like that they went with the AOE "evasion mode" design for optimus, especially if he's not in the movie.

I'm just happy we're *finally* getting a new legion Optimus, after having had the RotF one rehashed so many bloody times. Although I'm still miffed we don't have one in his AoE/TLK design. Ah well.
And, okay, these don't look like hyper-detailed collectors' pieces, but maybe, just maybe, the action features will actually get them to sell this time around. Because they do look like they'll be good toys. My only criticism really is that none of the 'Bees are cuddly enough. But we'll see what else is revealed.

It is cuddlier, yes. But less transformier, which is a negative mark. I know, I know - I'm demanding.

Soundwave seems to have a new head.
And all these Bumblebee sets with decepticon cassettes. Makes me wonder if this is a plot point in the movie, and that Soundwave is in it.

Wow. That is cruel. Having to buy all that shite just to get a Frenzy. Still, it has to be done. The team must be complete.
