What is the difference between a trampoline and a MOSC Longtooth toy?
You take your shoes off before jumping on a trampoline!

OK - what is the big joke with Longtooth?
He's a fine toy, had two nice (and sad) stories about him in the old comics and got to appear in animation in the Micromaster ads.
What's every one got against the poor guy?

It might be because Gav's obsession with Longtooth has caused us all to despise him (Longtooth that is, not Gav).

It's more the case than my long-standing hatred of Longtooth over many incarnations of the Hub has polluted Gav.

It's odd. I had only heard of Longtooth from the 'More than meets the eye' profile books a few years ago.
When i came on here, Ralph mentioned his Longtooth hatred, and i had to check him out- see what the fuss was about. Being a sucker for crazy shite like that - i loved the character.
After reading his story in the Eye of the Storm thread, I'm even more inclined to enjoy the fellow.

I have nothing at all against Longtooth. In fact, it's my favourite of the Autobot Pretender Shells. (Apart from, perhaps, the Beasts.) The other Autobot shells are rather ordinary and boring by comparison.

Yeah - what's with this Longtooth bashing?
I immediately fell for the character after his Matrix Quest appearance.
Alongside Nightbeat, he's my favorite of the "third generation" from G1 - that is to say the new after-Underbase bots...
Nightbeat/Longtooth/Thunderwing - probably the three best...with Spinister, Needlenose, and that sparking airplane dude coming in close...
I wish Takara would reissue those later G1 toys - some of them were quite nice - the double targetmaster Decepticons were great - Quake was cool...
Longtooth was nifty.
His boat mode was nice - and indeed his pretender shell is a very cool thing - much better than the Autobot humanoids.

Certainly, Longtooth, there are plenty of people out there who love you. Just last week, I sold someone the shell from your Hasbro tribute.

Hope you don't mind me posting this here, but I've rewritten my exploration of the Pretender Beasts, with plenty of pics here: www.redshirt.co.uk/toys/an-ode-to-carnivac/ God I loved Pretenders. In todays toy tech, they have a lot of potential, they should totally be brought back!

I never owned any of these as a kid, but I to have a soft spot for Carnivac. It saddens me that other Furman nobody characters like Nightbeat and Thunderwing and Bludgeon have gone on to be major fan favourites because he wrote them in the US run while Carnivac seems very much forgotten.
As for updates I'd love to see them. Animated seem the best bet if it runs long enough. I've heard a couple of people suggest Sidecar Prowl as a good Bludgeon.

My first though was Vroom. As one of the few pretenders I own I'd like to see an update. Plus it was one of the better inner robots.

Touche!
Actually given the whole 'armouring up' gimmick of Prowl, that would work pretty well...

Animated Sidecar Prowl is Bulletbike to me. As I get older, my strange and terrible fondness for crap Transformer toys grows.
I mean, I had Catilla as a nipper and thought it was bobbins. But now I think it's great and want to own one again.

I have a love of the Pretenders and just wish they'd been used better in the comics. A lot of fun to be had with the concept, sadly pretty much pissed away from the get go.
The toys do have a certain charm to them.

Oh, Carnivac. You deserve more comics.
I second the desire for Pretenders to return, as:
a) IDW and Furman have made the Pretenders really cool and formidable as a concept.
b) Pretender Monsters/Beasts could give us a chance to have Beast Wars/Machines homages and characters! Screw G1, gimme BW nostalgia! (Also RID. Right Laser!)

I am hoping one of the more knowledgeable patrons of the Internet can help me.
Am I right in thinking that the Pretender Monsters were not released in the UK until 1991 possibly as Woolworths' exclusives?
The gold/silver Pretenders/Micromasters catalogue we had in the UK omits the Pretender Monsters (and replaces them with the Triggerbots/cons) so I assume from that they weren't released in the UK in 1989 as they were in the US.
From my own hazy memory I remember seeing the PMs in Woollies around the time of the Action Masters... but since my brain is not what it was I can't be fully trusted.
Anyone else know of anything?
