The Japanese version of Beast Hunters. They've got two new combining toys, 3 members each, which combine in 3 ways. See tf.takaratomy.co.jp/toy/search/tfgo/ for the Autobots and combined forms

Wow, it's like the mess that was the Energon combinations all over again.

Oh dear, they're a right mess. Oh no no no. Not for me. They make Energon look good!

Is it just me, or do those GO combiners have hints of Power Rangers and Brave?

Not just you at all.
Very "for the Japanese market"

They do have a very Brave-esque aesthetic to them - the combination schema, with the way the waist seems to form is very like a couple of the Brave combiners I have.
I'm going to go against the grain here, because I actually quite like them - they seem to have gone all out for a "Super Robot" kind of feel to them.

The Decepticon ones appeal to me more. The words "Captain Shark" keep coming to me.

They do indeed look very Brave-like. They may be fun to play with but not photogenic.

Oooooooh. That red version of ... Predaking(? I have not been keeping up with the BH stuff well) ... looks really nice.
Prefer the Hasbro colours on Abominus though.

I hadn't been planning on getting much if anything from Go!, so hadn't been paying a lot of attention, but does anyone else think Bakudora would make a passable Macabre? -Jim

There is a general similarity in the outline.. Yes, I can see how that could double for Macabre.
