On a lighter note, I've had a request from someone who's bought a figure from me: please address it to his son and not include any mention of eBay or my name, because the son had entered a competition and he wanted his son to think he'd won. That poor kid. Why do some people think they can just buy their way through life? He'll be the kind of dad that will one day wander into a high street print shop and ask for a set of fake GCSE certificates*. *Years ago, when I was the owner of a high street print shop, we had a girl come in asking us to "change her grade" on an A-Level certificate. Of course she was refused!

What the hell is a 'DSR'? Detailed Seller Ratings, the "marks out of five" star ratings that appear on a seller's feedback page.

Thats the closest thing to a good idea they've had in a long while. Thats to say it at least can mitigate damage to feedback scores of sellers unlucky enough to come across buyers just looking to cause hassle.
Course it penalises infrequent users and wouldn't be as needed if sellers could still leave the feedback they wanted.

And my second neutral feedback. The first I can almost understand the dumbass logical. The package takes longer than it should to arrive, instead of blaming royal mail he blames me. Failure to bother contacting me first makes him a twat in my opinion but ok. This time, the feedback couple of bits missing off blue figure and megazordTaken from my auction description. I really dont know anything about Power Rangers so I cant say what may be missing. I've as best as possible to show clearly what is included in each lot and there general condition. All have some degree of play wear but don't appear to be broken. If you have any questions I'm happy to try and answer them and give more detailed descriptions of individual pieces.and I only added this link to extra photos on the last day, after a request but it was still added a few hours before his bid. Some extra photos here. s815.photobucket.com/albums/zz80/ebay_for_sale_stuff/ebay/2009/01%20sept09/yet some how I'm to blame. Andy

It really annoys me that sellers can now either leave only positive feedback or no feedback at all.
Isn't there a way to dispute feedback at all?

Bascally unless you get a lawyer involved or the comment uses abusive language or reveals personal details ebay dont care what a buyer writes.
I can reply to it, but with only 80 characters it takes a bit of composing. Ceratainly couldn't put what I wrote above.

Yes, you can still reply to and follow up feedback. Andy, you could leave a measured, factual reply and it'll show the buyer to be at fault and not you. Also, neutral feedback doesn't affect your feedback rating, so there's no need to be concerned about it if you can spin it in your favour.
On a related note, my feedback rating went back up to 100% this week, with this negative feedback about to disappear from the last 12 months:
i have not yet received, and i sent the cheque 9 days ago Buyer: warrenclan123 ( 12 [Feedback score is 10 to 49] ) 25-Sep-08 16:49
Reply by sf-collectables (26-Sep-08 13:21): Chq clears 25th, item sent same day. Buyer knew yet left -ve 25th. Unreasonable.
Incidentally, the cheque hadn't been sent nine days before, it was seven and included a weekend.

A measured response would be the way to go, definitely!
I am sure a lot of potential buyers can be credited enough with at least some intelligence to read feedback and replies and draw their own conclusions.
Even Nigel's once-in-a-blue-moon negative doesn't stop me using him!!

I know, thats whats most annoying and if you look at the photo it's clear the blue ranger doesn't have a holster. I don't know if it's meant to, clearly he does or he wouldnt be leaving the feedback, but not by looking at the photo apparently.
I asked him why he left the comment and his reply was There were no extra photos! And it said in your listing that you thought it was all complete; sorry but a couple of the bits weren't! I was only being honest, that is what feedback is for.
Now reread the description I posted above and tell me where I said I thought it was complete.

Many people don't bother their arse to read auction descriptions, sadly. And anytime I've made a mistake (ie recently when I bought the wrong toy part) I just accept it's my fault and don't have an unreasonable go at the seller because I was a spoon!

Now reread the description I posted above and tell me where I said I thought it was complete. Andy What is expected to be with that Blue Ranger anyway? A gun for its non existent holster. If I remember right, Rangers from that assortment only had guns and no other weapons. Only the Biker-sized Zyurangers (sorry I'm a Sentai Snob) had thier individual weapons as well as a gun. I can't understand what else is expected. Sounds to me that guy knew less than you admitted to, Andy. What a time-waster. ===KEN

Raaaaggghhhh!!!! I knew it!
Last week, eBay removed the option of offering additional postage insurance in listings. (Yet another way of forcing people to increase their prices so that eBay gets more money.)
My P&P prices don't include tracking as standard but my listings have always said that a tracking number can be provided at an extra cost. I was getting an increasing number of foreign buyers who were asking for tracking numbers when they hadn't paid for them, despite what it said in the listings and my invoices including the tracked service as an option. So, a few months ago, I started using the insurance option as a practical way of offering International Signed For as a tracked postage option. Technically, this isn't correct use of the option, as the International Signed For service doesn't offer any more insurance than standard Air Mail, but it solved the problem.
When eBay announced they would be discontinuing the insurance option, I knew the problem would return. Sure enough, within a week I have had someone from Costa Rica asking for the tracking number he hasn't paid for. The listing specifically states the cost of tracking and he was sent an invoice that said tracking was only available with International Signed For, which was listed on the invoice as an option.

After losing a package in the black hole that Italy seems to be, I just put signed for recorded on all shipping UK and international. For the UK its only 75p so I dont see it as a big deal, the £3.50 for airmail makes a big difference, but I figure it improves the odds of the buyer not being a time waster, and like nigel says means I have a tracking number even if its of no real use.

I'm beginning to hate Italians. The one that went missing was ok but a waste of a lot of time. The current Italian bid on two large lots and even though I'd told him before auctions ended that over 2kg couldnt be combined for international postage must have hugely underestimated the weight. I sent him invoice total ing £44.20 £26 of which was postage. Fair enough, he said it was a lot. I said if there was anything that he didn't want from either auction if I took it out I might get the weight below 2kg. He did this but then demanded a reduction in the final auction price. I told him that I never did that as a seller and never expected another seller to do so when I was buying things, but just to shut him up (I've been getting about 5-10 emails a day) I reduced the price by £1.20 (there was a logic to such a random number).
Nows he's complaining that he just recieved 3 boxed transformers sent seperately which combined cost less than the single package I'm sending. Currently trying to explain that even a big toy like Poweremaster Prime is lighter than a box full of loose transformers. Can't wait till tomorrow when I can start a non paying bidder claim. I seriously dont want to send him anything now.

Thats the impression I was coming to, he was just totally unwilling to accept that whenhe bid he had acceptted the terms and costs involved and it was his responsibility to understand them.
Anyway I told he I'd start the cancellation process tomorrow and with in minutes he coughed up the full amount. Now to see what happens to my feedback.
