Can someone explain knock offs to me?

I just don't get it.

I'm a Wargamer too and knock off are frowned on a lot.

I know China has some weird laws but it also seems the knock off sometimes mess with the scale or make amendments to the moulds??

Prime (ahem) example is the recent Over Sized Knock Off PotP Dinobots. initially coming out in Power Ranger colours but later in G1 variant.

Knockoffs are a way for thieves to make money off something popular.

It's easier and cheaper to make and sell a low quality spider-man toy, than it is to create, design, and market your own brand new superhero.
Transformers is the same way.

I remember that oversized transmetal rattrap back in the early 2000s, that seemed to be everywhere. And with hindsight, I wish to god I had gotten one.
