G1 Ultra Magnus had RED thighs. He had red thighs in Marvel UK, and most likely had red thighs in the Movie.
In my mind Ultra Magnus has RED thighs.
Recent toys, though, tend to give him white thighs.
I specifically bought a Japanese Ultra Magnus in the previous trilogy because he had RED thighs, not the white thighs of the western release.
Now Siege Ultra Magnus has white thighs! This is wrong!
ULTRA MAGNUS SHOULD HAVE RED THIGHS.
The colour of Ultra Magnus' thighs is of GREAT concern to me.
When did we go from Righteous Red, to Weakly White...?

Just because it's accurate to the original/cartoon, does not always mean it looks best.
Takara always only does Sunstreaker in yellow and black. While that may be accurate, it always ends up in an extremely boring and miserable looking toy.
Hasbro's versions usually give him red on his shoulders, and silver on his thighs and other parts. All of which serve to break up the yellow and black.
It's less accurate to the original toy and cartoon, but results in a much more striking toy.
Also, not every Ultra Magni have much, if any red. Animated, RiD, TFP, TFP:BH, and FoC barely have and red at all.

But that's the point, without red, on his body and his thighs, Magnus just doesn't look as good. When he's just blue and white he's nowhere near as visually appealing as when he has a decent mount of red on him too.

Far as I can tell, he was white thighed in the cartoon/Movie. The wiki only shows him from the waist up.

Yes, that's what I meant - I was going to say shoulders but he also has long stacks for shoulders. And yes - I also think it should be white because it's the cab. I've gotten used to Magnus' white thighs over the years but they used to annoy me when I was young (why have they made his thighs white when his lower legs are already white?) so I'll go toy accuracy and say red. |
