Awww man... My whole world is falling apart...
This is like when I found out -as a grown man- that the yellow dandelion flower and the white fluffy things children blow are THE SAME PLANT.

The title says it all, Docktor. What colour SHOULD Hubcap have been! 'Cos he sure as muffins shouldn't have been YELLOW!!! Yeah, the question isn't, "What colour was Hubcap?" Like the third colour the Microchange Minibots were available in? Yeah, like that. Martin

Well, according to Phil's picture, Hubcap was born white, then MISS-COLOURED yellow! All hubcaps are actually white. He was due out in 84. but Hasbro accidentally left the entire run of them sit in the sun for two years, so Hubcap yellowed.

But the question makes no sense! It only makes sense if it can be applied to any other random Transformer! 1. First of all, it can. 2. Second of all, I don't think the character selection for this poll is completely random. Hubcap attracts the question more than most characters because when he was released we had had very similar toys previously - Bumblebee (correct), yellow Cliffjumper (a mistake) and Bumper (a mistake), and so making Hubcap yellow was a boring choice of colour. Like making Tailgate red, which would make him too similar to Windcharger, or making Hoist black, which would make him too similar to Trailbreaker, or making Dirge's wings blue with red stripes, or making Ramjet all black, which would make them too similar to Thundercracker and Skywarp. Logically there is no reason why two different characters shouldn't look very similar, but from the point of view of a toy range aiming for variety, and children who want each new TF to be different from ones they've bought previously, it was arguably a perverse choice to make Hubcap the same colour as Bumblebee, yellow Cliffjumper and Bumper when there are so many other colours available. This colour criticism cannot be applied to Pipes, Outback, Swerve or Tailgate, so Hubcap is not a random Transformer for this poll. Whew! Martin

How are red Bumblebee, yellow Cliffjumper, and "Bumper" (who does not even have a name or character) not mistakes? Catalogues also frequently show information that was correct until a last minute cock up. But not always, as hasbro had a habit of using placeholders. Grabbing diaclones in early G1 (blue bluestreak, anyone?) or the flat out wrong toy in late G1 (using octopunch in place of Banzaitron's accessory)

YELLOW CLIFFJUMPER AND BUMPER ARE NOT MISTAKES!!! Then why was Cliffjumper always red from the start on his box art and tech-specs? And why was Bumper sold in Bumblebee or Cliffjumper packaging? Was that deliberate? OK, so Bluestreak's box art colour didn't match the toy, but 1985 Cliffjumpers were all red, while Bluestreak stayed silver. Martin
