Finally got around to reading issue 1. I think Im pretty much of the same opinion as everyone. It was fine, but low key and nothing that seems like it required a reboot. So far, I realise its issue 1.
I know its Transformers so theres only so far I can expect them to stray from the expected, but I like my reboots to be different. Battlestar Galactica being maybe the best example.
While not for the same reason a Primenova (I think) Windblade appearing bothered me. I know shes now one of Hasbros go to characters, but I still mostly associate her with the previous IDWverse. Her appearing here doesnt help create a mental break between old and new.
More observation than anything, but Bumblebee (and I guess Rubble) also stood out a little as the only one not based on a current(ish) toy. Although that might be more due to the switch of artist for the Prime scene. Windblade still looked more based on an existing design than Bee.

Why does Rubble look like a Titan Master?

More of the same as Issue 1. {Spoiler}Brian Ruckley is showing his prose roots here. The comic isn't working as a serial.
There are some nice character moments, but the drama is curiously absent, as is most of the population. This is a bustling pre-war Cybertron. It feels just as barren and empty as every other iteration we've had.
Also - the big rally that Megatron had, we had what twenty/thirty people and Optimus was worried for that?
I want to like this, I really do but it's so empty and none of the characters have any distinct voice.

True that.
Empty is the best way to describe this.

The noise her staff made every two minutes in that cartoon. She was always hitting the ground with it!

#3. World building continues, and it's kinda interesting in itself. Actual plot events are a snail's pace though. At the moment I'm leaning towards interest piqued enough to carry on, but... damn. The idea of violent death being a shocking and unheard of thing is kinda countermanded by the revelation that there has been a semi-recent war...

Point of order: issues one and two have separate threads, but Ed's put his issue three post here. So..... All in one thread or separate threads per issue?

No, just genuinely trying to establish what we want to do

We normally only have one thread per series.

Imagine what the previous canon's threads would look like now if you'd done one per comic. I don't think you want to have to manage that, Phil!

Hmmm. Read #3. Still enjoying it. Working much better for me than the previous comic iteration.

Was actually going for this but that works too
(Guttingly, Netflix doesn't have Gurren Lagann on it anymore, why do I even bother to pay my subscription, that was 50% of my viewing!)

We normally only have one thread per series. Rebel! Row row fight the power! No we didn't. It ended up that way when we had multiple series as it was easier to keep track of.

Just not feeling it.
Want to like it more, but it's not gripping me in the slightest.

I think for the early part keeping the single threads is the way to go, but if the series continues we can merge.

100% agree with Ed's spoiler.
It's also not a strong enough reboot. There is nearly nothing here that doesn't make it feel like it could be a prequel to the universe we've had already.

This slow enough that I can't help but not think 'Written for the trade.' It really doesn't help that some of the designs like Optimus and Megatron still seem too block to actually move and walk in the ways shown.

I don't agree with the spoiler. {Spoiler}This is a society that does not know murder of their own kind on their home world rather than one which does not know war. I find that interesting for all sorts of reasons.
