I'd bring along a balloon animal or something and just bluff it from there. I'd probably bring an empty box and claim that it represented the sum total of my thoughts on the subject. Sorry to hear that the exam was not so good - hopefully you will still have done a good job, even if the experience was a bit fraught. Your brain will no doubt switch tracks, it just takes a little bit of time to get fully realigned. Today wasn't too bad a day for me all told. Did fairly well at getting a few things sorted out, and I feel that the week is beginning to come together a bit. Karl

after three hours of abject terror and frantic waffling about the mobility of copper under different conditions and the significance of adsorption/desorption isotherms I'm finding it difficult to refocus on Contaminated Land legislation and Carbon & Nitrogen cycling. -Nick Gah, i always have that problem with Nitrogen cycling.

Bra-fitting? Are you going to AA this year? Maybe you could measure the size of our fanboobs. I don't want to put that kind of pressure on myself! what if I get it wrong? you could all get cancer XD

Don't be so modest. Take something that will make the women curious, such as a picture of the Eiffel Tower, a book on volcanoes or a model of the Saturn V rocket. And if you can accompany it with the the climax of the 1812 overture in some form, you'll be all set. Just stand up, open your laptop, play this clip, close the laptop and sit down: Martin

It was a quiet weekend at Phil's DFiS, the phone didn't ring once. It was only when we pickd it up to make a call that we discovered a few messages waiting for us and worked out it hadn't been ringing cos it wouldn't ring.
You could dial in on a mobile and hear the ringing sound, it just didn't make a noise at our end. Which might explains why the mate who was meant to be bringing a new PC round never showed up.
So I ring BT. They said have you checked your equipment and connections, we say yes. We'd taken one of the phones to Liz's mum and dad, plugged it in there and it had worked fine. We'd even got a friend in who used to be a phone engineer and he'd found nothing wrong.
So we summon a BT engineer (free if it's their fault, £130 + £99 per hour if it's ours)
He goes to the exchange. Half an hour later the phone rings - huzzah job done !
It was only when I walked through the lounge I noticed the lights were off on the Broadband box. Whatever they did to fix the phone ringer bust the broadband. Another phone call, another wait while they fix it....

Hello Sports Fans!
Better luck to all Uni-goers. I'm pleased to say I'll be joining your ranks in Sept. I've passed my exams for training up to full Paramedic. I've opted for a year long Uni course (at Sheffield Hallam) as opposed to the 7 week or 22 week Ambulance Service training. The Uni course gives one a Foundation Degree, so it's a proper real-world transferable quolification. Better way to learn AND most importantly family friendly. Mrs Shockprowl couldn't have had the time off without alot of probs. So YIIIIPPPEEEE for me! Two of my mates are going as well, but a few of my other chumbs didn't get places, which has taken the shine off things to be honest. Alot of people went for not many places. But overall I'm pretty chuffed with myself.
In other news. Piglet has rapidly become an expert in taking off her sleeping bag first thing in a morning. We're worried she'll do a Jonathan and fall out of her cot, which is now on it's lowest setting (she's only a short little thing but still manages to get her foot on the top!!). Some times though she obv wiggles alot in her sleep and her sleeping bag gets a bit twisted around her and she can't find the zip. This am as I was leaving for work, I heard her saying "Where zip? Zip gone zip gone!". Marvelous!
We went for numerous walks in the sun (covered in sun cream of course!). In a field near where we live, the grass is a bit long. Not for us adults, but for short people it's quite a challenge! katy, - Katy? Who's that? PIGLET, highly enjoyed wading through the longer grass (up to her knees) making "umph" noises!
Oh and feel better soon Phil.

Today's exam went really well. Next exam isn't till Tuesday. I really shouldn't have taken this afternoon off as I'll need every moment I can spare to cram everything necessary into my head for exam 3 which contains as much if not more material than the last two put together.
Hey ho.

Glad to hear that todays went well. I was glad when the working day ended today,, especially as there is a Publice Holiday on monday and the office is closed on Tuesday. It isn't all fun and games this weekend though. I have just finished masking off the skirting board in the vestibule so that I can paint in there tomorrow morning. Once that is done it is onto getting the kitchen ready to do that in the course of the afternoon and Sunday. I think I shall enjoy my pint of Guinness and a "Macross" episode this evening to unwind before I face the task ahead tomorrow. Karl

Glad to hear today's exam went well. As Karl says in the long run you'll probably be glad of the day off. It allows your mind some breathing space and let's you refocus tomorrow a little easier.

Today I did another 5k race (an easier course than Dunfermline's) and did it in 23mins52seconds. Which is my 5k personal best so far. There are another three races on the same route in the next three months.
This one had mostly proper runners so I was at the back of the field but didn't finish last thanks to the efforts of an old man and some chubby guy (only slightly chubbier than me, but I can call him chubby so there) who cried and fell short of the finish line and some young lady I overtook.
Got a stitch right at the end and felt very, very sick but still finished.
Hooray for me.

Thanks Nick. It was a challenging run but nothing like the Dunfermline 5k. Next time you are through in Fife if you fancy it I will take you round and see what you can do. In a race I managed 26mins 01seconds and it was a beast!
Looking forward to doing more runs in the next few months and as I do so see the beergut vanish never to return!

Andy, that doesn't strike me as a bad time at all there. I wish my knee was up to running anymore (I can do fast over very short distances, but it starts to complain at sustained distances). Mind you, maybe I should put it to the test and try to stay the course with you and Nick - you never really know what you can do until you really put your mind to it and all that.

The handy thing is the Dunfermline 5k route is two laps so if you know the knee can't take it you can easily pack it in.
Next time we Scots assemble in darkest Fife we shall go for that run. Makes a change from sitting on our arses drinking!

Sounds good - it has been a long time since I have been running properly, always worth revisiting these things every so often. And this way we get to earn our drinks! Karl

I always found revising stressed me out. And stress has a bad effect on my condition. So a little light revision in the mornings was followed by a relaxing activity in the afternoons - in the days before I needed a sleep every afternoon !
