If the smells / walls were important they would be POIs.

DOCTOR: Gravity check. Escape velocity about one point five miles a second. ROMANA: Really? Isn't that a little low for a planet? DOCTOR: Yes. This must be one of the moons of Delta Magna. DOCTOR: I'd say the third. ROMANA: Doctor? Sometimes I don't think you're quite right in the head. Error: DOCTOR command not recognised. Error: ROMANA command not recognised. Error: DOCTOR command not recognised. Error: DOCTOR command not recognised. Error: ROMANA command not recognised. SNIFF smells. FEEL wet walls. LOWER yoyo through grate using the string. The smells are unpleasant, presumably due to the grate leading to a lower sanitation tunnel.
The walls are wet from condensation. Probably due to the age of the buildings.
The Yo-Yo does not fit through the grate.

{HINT}If you can narrow down which building's have or have not served their purpose it should point you in the right direction as to where to look for answers.

If the smells / walls were important they would be POIs. That's what I thought, but you're also saying we need to think about something we haven't considered or discussed yet. All the POIs we've talked about and interacted with, so there isn't a lot left beyond that. I take it then the thing that ran past us is also not relevant as that isn't a POI. So we're back to the grate and the doors and the need to have a sign on the door we keep knocking on with no response. Of the doors: 1 Is the obstacle 2 We've discussed and tried to work out how to show we're worthy 3 Has a woman curled up on the floor 4 Boss Nass told us to go away 5 The Doctor - done that bit 6 The Communists - told us to look over the road 7 Bolton - done that bit 8 Scientologists - done that bit KNOCK on red fish door ASK woman if she's alright down there

Fun facts about this dark alley segment... That's fascinating. Some of that I think I'd guessed, like the extra Olympiad winners, because they didn't serve any purpose. The boat bit I've always been confused about; there was something you said that suggested it had been improvised based on Martin's comment but I wasn't sure if that was just him being tied up or the whole boat floating away bit. The hacking device didn't feel like a natural fit there, and once we'd used it a second time I was pretty sure the boat bit didn't go quite the way it was originally intended. It worked though! Also, in the alley here, it didn't feel as well organised as your usual puzzles because I think if you were planning that from the outset, it wouldn't have been self contained - other locations would have been involved like with everything else here, and the way the doors all do different things is a bit disjointed - they don't all fit together, like 5, 7 and 8 being self contained. However it may well be that all the doors have a role to play, it's just that we haven't finished with 2 and 3 yet. The others I think have done their jobs.

At the risk of giving the game away, there are details missed from your review post that you must have dismissed when re-reading the thread.

KNOCK on red fish door ASK woman if she's alright down there There's no answer.Right, so that *is* a red herring then? themed on the old fortunate telling fish idea. Which leaves us with the Palmers as the only door we haven't found a purpose for, but we've discussed it to death, so I'm not sure what we've overlooked... Really confused.

Why? everything else has been really cleverly woven through all the locations, this bit sits by itself like an extension.

At the risk of giving the game away, there are details missed from your review post that you must have dismissed when re-reading the thread. What else haven't we explored then... Turning to the other, they speak in a slightly agitated tone, but trying such that you don't notice. "You see Dave, I told you our guerrilla marketing would work." They turn their attention back to you, speaking again in their previous manner. As they open the door, they appear to be mid heated conversation. "Look, I'm just saying that if that guy can't show he's worthy then it was a waste of..."
The above we haven't resolved. A man comes to the door wearing a party hat and holding a short glass of clear liquid. He wavers on the spot, struggling to maintain eye contact. The sounds of Dr. Spin's Tetris blare from the back, underpinned by raucous chatter and laughter. The communist party? Just a gag surely? "That Chess player? We see him around on the other side of the street, but he's always too busy to come and have fun with us."That bit told us Kasparov lived in 1-4. Job done with that door? If fish woman is a red herring then it has to be the Palmers. Everything else has served its purpose.

So the guerrilla marketing was a waste... of time if we didn't notice it?
Dave takes me back to Red Dwarf again, but then Lister is in the bar. Being judged worthy is what the Inquisitor did in Red Dwarf, but I don't see the connection here.

So the guerrilla marketing was a waste... of time if we didn't notice it? It means you now know there has been some guerrilla marketing, you can go look for it for more info on these palm acolytes or whatever heck they are. Dave takes me back to Red Dwarf again, but then Lister is in the bar. Being judged worthy is what the Inquisitor did in Red Dwarf, but I don't see the connection here. Dave was just a random name I picked out. Sorry for the crossover.

I was just thinking about where we might have encountered anything like that and was looking back. The leaflet stand in the multichurch stands out because it was a POI but we couldn't find away to interact with it. There were too many leaflets to read. But now we're only looking for one.
GO plaza GO multichurch LOOK for palm symbol among leaflets on stand.

Too obtuse? I thought when you conversation with the palmers continued I added more on the argument to draw your attention to it. Perhaps not enough.

Ok, I don't know what you're saying there. It's not the leaflet stand we're looking for?
I think before you give this away completely it's only fair Martin gets to mull it over. So the relevant conversation seems to be:
As they open the door, they appear to be mid heated conversation.
"Look, I'm just saying that if that guy can't show he's worthy then it was a waste of..."
The other interjects in the calm and soothing manner with which he addressed you before.
"Hello again." He shoots a look to his companion.
You show your palms, but the second let's out a dismissive sigh closing the door.

Ah, cool.
The leaflet stand has been on my map list as an unresolved POI since we first encountered it; it made no sense we could interact with it, but kept getting told we couldn't read the leaflets. I guess solving the puzzles on the other side of the road made me think we were there with this section, but I think part of what I was saying earlier was that this section felt disjointed because it had doors that didn't seem to be necessary, but I think we've now got all eight with a purpose now so it feels neater.
I think I see where we're going now and why we can see through the grate. The Palmer's house has an exit down into the sewer, the sewer is the linked location, and there is a door down there up one of the flights of stairs that has Prowl's head on it. Knock for Kasparov and persuade him to come to the bar.
We've got to be close to the end of this chapter now!

GO plaza GO multichurch LOOK for palm symbol among leaflets on stand. New location: City Plaza New location: Multichurch
You look through the leaflets, there are so many it would be difficult to pick out a particular one of interest if you didn't know what you were looking for. Amidst the well produced high quality offerings from the various churches that have a place within the multichurch, you see some that look a little lacklustre in their production. On them is the symbol of two open palms.
