1 - Tribute night - Macctallica/Arranthrax/She Burns Red. - Macctallica were insanely tight musically. Arranthrax were great fun (only their 2nd gig apparently, it didn't show). She Burns Red were grand, happen to know the bassist from the Glasgow comic scene.

1 - Powerwolf supported by Amaranthe - support were excellent, been a big fan a while so was very happy, Powerwolf was a masterclass in how to structure a set, perfectly interspersing big hits, with new songs, the odd ballad and big rousing singalongs, great first gig of 2019.

1 - Jimmy Eat World - Supporting Frank Turner. Got about half of Bleed America in a 50 minute set. Made me very happy.
2 - Frank Turner - As I said at the show, recommending for free (with Jimmy Eat World tickets). Never heard any of his stuff before. Puts on fantastic show, but Im not 100% sure his music is something I will listen to even though its very good.

Second installment of Download paid for today. That and the Devin Townsend gig later in the year have hurt my wallet, but it's gonna so damn worth it.
Trying to work out if I should go see a Linkin Park tribute act at my local tonight.

What was intended as a day in Dublin for c2c became a meeting with a huge chunk of dad's family that we didn't know existed till last month. Throw on captain marvel and c2c got a bit overshadowed. Still once we were in to the 3 arena we had a blast. Ashley mcbride - fairly standard country. Lyle lovett - weird weird stuff. Turns out I had heard some of his music before Nd it's quite good. Honestly I half slept through some of it because I was shattered and it was rather laid back. Chris Stapleton - I'd only heard bits of his stuff before. I believe I was the only person there who could say that. I have never seen an audience this size go that crazy. I enjoyed it but the reaction was .... I mean it was Taylor Swift meets prince meets Justin timberlake meets Springsteen on a really really good night. As an added bonus afterwards we went to see one of dad's newly discovered second cousins playing in a put in temple bar.

1.James: Supporting themselves (a brief acoustic show before the main event) and they were superb. Laughs, tears and insurance wrecking venue climbing.
Taken a while this year, but we're off the mark now!

I hear the the fine folk of my old Uni town of Hull caused violence at the James gig. That's crazy stupid.

So the upcoming Machine Head tour is of interest.

I'd be on that, but the lack of a South coast venue makes it unlikely. I'm willing to bet Dezzeh finds a reason to be in London that day...

YEah, very interested in that, but Manchester has become a lot less easy to get too over the last year and I'm not sure I can afford a trip into London. Not sure I can afford to miss it though...

1. Skarlett Riot - Fahran - Sister Shotgun - Crosslight: Absolute banger of a show, and the headliners just rocked so much harder than the tiny Rock City basement deserved. 2. James

1. Skarlett Riot - Fahran - Sister Shotgun - Crosslight 2. The Lounge Kittens - Grant Sharkey: Proper good fun night. Some politics (from the opener) and then just a good old singalong for a couple of hours. 3. James 4. Nirvananight: Nirvana cover band put together specially for the evening, and all proceeds going to Mind.

I've just finished a book in which Buckcherry feature briefly. It's by a groupie. It's interesting.
Ahem.
About to start a run of two gigs in three days, from Nottingham to Birmingham, starting Sunday. Also booked tickets for a band called Bloodywood when they hit the UK for the first time in July. Gonna be fun.
I think I need some of this, after the month I've been having!

1. Papa Roach - Nothing More: So good. Loud, charismatic and full of energy. Both bands giving it 100% 2. Skarlett Riot - Fahran - Sister Shotgun - Crosslight 3. The Lounge Kittens - Grant Sharkey 4. James 5. Nirvananight

1. Devin Townsend: Absolute perfection. An acoustic 'evening with', just Devin, a small audience and his fucking voice. Mesmerising and almost transcendent. 2. Papa Roach - Nothing More 3. Skarlett Riot - Fahran - Sister Shotgun - Crosslight 4. The Lounge Kittens - Grant Sharkey 5. James 6. Nirvananight

Completing the triforce, three gigs in a week!
1. Devin Townsend 2. Papa Roach - Nothing More 3. Terrorvision - The Amorettes: Always a good time, and hearing 'How To Make Friends...' in full live was a heck of a thing. 4. Skarlett Riot - Fahran - Sister Shotgun - Crosslight 5. The Lounge Kittens - Grant Sharkey 6. James 7. Nirvananight

That many people plus instruments should not fit on it. 5 - Hugh Jackman - I mean if you loathe musical theatre with a passion most people reserve for Nazis then you might only like the show a lot.
