How long do you think the new IDW series is lasting?

With seeing the bit to increase sales - get your shop to order you 10 issue to get free alt cover copy. So could that be a good move to increase sales? But how long does everyone think its going to last? Have we got any inside info saying they have only planned for 12 issues?

This reminds me of whenever a new Doctor Who actor takes over and the first question they always get asked is: "How long are you doing it for?"

But we have seen story out line for the first 4 issues compared to DW where we don't know until the whole series has been filmed. But we know the first arc is 5 issues.

I voted 8 years at least, but I'm probably being optimistic. It will start out as twice monthly, and that may be a strain after a point, but we will see. A recent interview with the author sounds like he has long term plans, but as we all know, it all comes down to 1) sales and 2) mandates by Hasbro (with a possible 3)P.C. culture) and all three could play a part in story directions/length.

But Tom had planned out for TF Gijoe to #25 & we know that got cut short after the months it missed. But this series might not have nay missed months but they must have got the first 20 issue written then. (first 10 months) 2 months at #4. We'll see what the sales figures are in april

It's going to last 12 issues - they have listed the HB collection reprint up - so no 2 tpb collections? or 3 if arc 2 is 5 parts long then a 2 parter

Only 12 issues? Then what? It'd be hard to get invested in a comic that will only last a year, unless it's part of a larger continuity, like Furman's original arcs.

IDW stated it was going to be an ongoing, Pete is putting two and two together and coming up with five.

I'm trying to guess the story arcs - we know first 5 issues are one - so must be another 2 story arc - they'll not have 2 issues of a story arc in the book to make up 12 issues then end in next book?

We'll find out next month when we see listings for #6. the first arc should have been the first 6 issues

No it shouldn't. The story should take as long as it takes. Writing for the trade isn't the only way to go.

So far the story arcs are 5 parter then a 1 parter in #6.
