Yes. Episode five is quite good in a big fighty kind of way, but the big apocalyptic stuff was a bit too apocalyptic for the minimal build up it had.
I also felt a bit sorry for the Beast Wars crew. Particularly Primal and Megatron. They were always going to play second fiddle to the originals. Really they should be the leads but that can't happen when the G1 pair are there. Beast Megatron especially felt like an overexcited teenage fanboy, which ruined his character.
Some bits were good, some bits weren't, some bits were just weird. I came to the conclusion that visually it's really impressive, but the story supporting the pictures wasn't very good.

Why can't the people behind these things write good stories?

I think it's impossible with something like this. We already have the story in our heads from childhood. You can't copy that without it feeling inferior or outdated and you can't change it because it wouldn't be like it used to be. I'm not sure how you do a good Transformers story now.

You do it by having good quality scripts and decent voice direction and sound editing/recording.

Animated, Prime, Cyberverse, all good well written and acted shows. You don't suddenly run out of good Transformers stories to tell, you get a parent company who is only putting in the bare minimum. That's where the problems are.

It's because the people who get ahold of these are uber "fans" who like to pretend that giant robots fighting is serious business. "This is WAR! This is SERIOUS! People DIE!" And then they kill Prowl, and we're all supposed to feel sad because we all worship G1 and G1 only because we all grew up with it and love all G1 characters, even though in this series Prowl was only in two episodes, and had three lines.
Everything I've read about "WfC" comes off like a very boring fanfic written by an uberfan that takes the hobby far too seriously and is determined to suck all the fun out of it.

The slow voices were more obvious than ever in this one. Every time Optimus speaks he stops mid-sentence for half an hour for no reason at all.

That's where the problems are. Yes, those are all brilliant, but again, I think those work because they don't have the 1980s stories looming over their shoulder. They're free to do what they want without being shackled by the 'right' story. Anything with the original 80s characters in inevitably seems to fail because people want to compare it to the 'good old days', aside from the obvious production problems the Netflix series has. It seems the new He-Man series has had the same reaction from die hard MOTU fans, but I loved it because I'm not steeped in the history of what the series is supposed to be. I agree though it's a shame the Netflix TF series has the problems it does. To someone unfamiliar with the source material it might have been an enjoyable watch otherwise. Lots of action, decent animation and rendering for the budget.

G1 do-overs can be done well. -Ralph

Beast Wars was the best way to go because it was new but still part of the original story.
I think that's what I want - not a retelling of G1, but something that continues it or tells different stories IN that universe but still accessible to newcomers. With decent writing and acting of course.
Live action film-wise on the other hand, I just want Marvel 1-4 turned into a faithful adaptation with the following story of Shockwave taking over as a sequel. (With 'Shooting Star' being a 15 rated spin off).

Is the Legacy series having a netflix cartoon like the last 3 years War of Cybertron? Also what ever happened to the 2021 Botbots series? Can't find a thread about it on here. I've got Netflix free with my £26 Sky VIP package so have it if it comes on soon. If you search online for Transformers Legacy cartoon you get a link to Animated style images from 2011-2015 www.deviantart.com/cyraptor/art/Transformers-Legacy-Sideswipe-578130005 But nothing to do with the 2022 series

There's a new cartoon in development to replace Cyberverse. Hasbro have said nothing about Legacy, not sure if they will do a series for it.
As for Bot Bots it was announced but no airdate was ever given.

If it follows their track record dating back to Combiner Wars, then the Legacy cartoon will not be announced until september, and will not premier until 2023, after we've moved on to the next line.
That said, as we've gone back to the generalized "little bit of everything" that Generations should be, it doesn't lend itself to a cartoon as easily. Not that the last two "trilogies" haven't been a hot mess in terms of fiction.
