By others I mean the Earthrise ones. Of course he'll match the 86 style ones, which of course were all supposed to buy to ditch the Earthrise ones.

Hound was SS86 to start with
Trailbreaker isn't in the 86 Movie is he?

I don't think that's going to stop Hasbro.

My decision to cut down on TF spending in 2024 to divert funds to other things becomes easier by the day!
Last year I reacquired Universe Hound, which is good enough for me.

Speaking as someone who is double dipping on a lot of TR toys, I see absolutely no reason to do so here. Surely this is costing sales on Hound as opposed to releasing him on his own?
This is the third release of the Trailbreaker mould with only minor changes, fifth if you include the Hoist version, I'd assume it's made it's costs back by now? Same with Jazz.

Yeah, there's no way I'm going in on this set just for Hound unless there's a huge discount. Can't imagine it's going to be easy to offload the others to people who won't also want Hound anyway.
And if they go for an opaque windscreen on Hound for consistency within the set that's going to annoy the people who only want Hound to complete their ER line-up.
I think it will sell but it will annoy a lot of people!

Yeah, I think all those 'Evo-Fusion' ports definitely spoil the look of the vehicle modes somewhat.

Not for me, I think.
I want to say it looks cheaper than the ER version, but to be fair it's because it's going for the animation look which is not my preferred aesthetic.
Wasn't one of the Hasbro designers recently quoted as saying they were surprised that fans generally prefer this look with opaque windows? Maybe a lot of people do but it's certainly not universal...

Blue Breaker already meets my Trailbreaker needs.
I went nose-deep into slightly-different repaints during the covid era, but now I can't be hooped.

Not a different head, it was just the lighting.
This a big nope from me, and yes, I too prefer the clear windows.

What are the odds pathfinder will be gray, and be from t30/cw scout cosmos or origin bumblebee, while smallfoot will red, and from warrior (or at least legacy) strongarm?
0%? Thought so. I like the concept behind the ehobby gobots. It was a nice afterthought (that takara actually wussed out on and didn't actually name them). But they're not actually gobot homages. They're just a random assortment of unproduced prototype colors, that someone had a genuinely wonderful thought to name them after similar altmode gobots.
What frustrates me is that this is now the default moldchoice/body types and color sets for this set of gobots. To be fair, while they're both flying saucers, original styled Cosmos looks as much like Pathfinder, as Bumblebee looks like Jazz.
At one time, there were no other choices. Who were you gonna pick for these six? We weren't exactly overflowing with pickups, flying saucers, VW beetles, warthogs, and non-optimus trucks. And we're still not. i mean, a yellow bumblebee repaint is just gonna be bumblebee. And if you painted gears read, it's just gonna be swerve.
But we're committed now to the ehobby set. It's something they don't have to be slavish to, to the point where they screwed up Puffer just to make Road Ranger out of Huffer. Puffer's whole deal was that he was Huffer in Pipe's deco. So now as an exclusive, we have Pipes in Pipes' deco. (My personal solution would be huffer in blue as Puffer, Pipes in Road Ranger's actual red and blue deco, and black ehobby huffer as a separate release as a new character. Or ehobby road ranger from huffer and gobot road ranger from pipes, while puffer from pipes was elsewere)
To be fair, I don't mind these molds in those colors, But I would rather the gobots get more appropriate homages like Fracture, Crasher, and even Deadlift, while the ehobby set gets new names/characters.
Except Treds. Warpath is the only appropriate mold for him and is absolutely an upgrade over the original gobot toy.

That is awful. It looks like a bad photoshop.
They really needed to give him a new chest/roof/windshield piece if they were going to do that. The only reason it worked before was because the transparent plastic made the sharp squared corners less obvious.

Yeah, that is... not great. Really shows the weaknesses of the mold up. There'll be a lot of these on eBay after people get their Hounds, I'd imagine...

That would look 75% better if the windows were transparent blue. I'm not a transparent window supremacist like some collectors, but like I said, the only reason that bad shape worked at all was because the transparency made the corners less noticeable.
