There have been very few Marvel Comics homage TF toys. By contrast, there are several dozen Sunbow homage toys.

Also, deco wise, Marvel homages tend to be fairly extensive (such as Shockwave and Grimlock). While most Sunbow decoes actually take deco detail away.
I mean, this Wheeljack and "Comic" Grimlock aren't even in the same league.
It works with Beast Wars. Cartoon deco Beast Wars are often very extensive decoes.
It's hard to compare Kingdom to Premium, because Kingdom were already close, while Premiums are very subtle in ways you don't pick up on unless you have it in hand. But the Masterpieces? There is some funky stuff there to make them look CG.
Meanwhile, the Cartoon G1 MPs often tend to be just as bland deco wise as this Wheeljack.
Sunbow did not give them much to work with.
It does not make you a hypocrite to not be interested in Cartoon Accurate G1 decoes, but like the Marvel Accurate G1 decoes, or the Cartoon Accurate BW decoes.

All very good points, thank you. Yes, my main complaint with strict adherence to Sunbow is indeed just how plain and uninteresting that makes everything - it's not just because they're picking one piece of media to be obsessed with. I shall resume my ranting!

It's why my preferred approach to mainline G1 is the clean lines of the cartoon model with the toy deco. Best of both worlds. Unfortunately, it has meant Toyhax making a bit of money out of me recently.

...you know what? I don't need four duplicates that look significantly worse than the ones I already have, in order to get one guy who's marginally more accurate than the last two versions I have of him.
I also find myself hoping this sells out really fast to save me from breaking and becoming the whore I know I really am, because if this is still up tonight, I'll likely cave.

Just completed the clear down on the Leaks & Rumours thread. Needless to say there were a few posts on this one going back a couple of years to when Hound was first leaked as a Buzzworthy BB exclusive that then got cancelled!

I spent a while checking and failed to notice Medix right in front of me on the desk!

Yeah, there's no way I'm going in on this set just for Hound unless there's a huge discount. Can't imagine it's going to be easy to offload the others to people who won't also want Hound anyway. And if they go for an opaque windscreen on Hound for consistency within the set that's going to annoy the people who only want Hound to complete their ER line-up. Yep, well, that opaque windscreen has killed it for me for sure however deeply it gets discounted. It's not so hard to handwave Siege Hound as some cutting edge military vehicle anyway. |

Ive really really never liked the Siege Hound (at least as Hound) so I would have liked this one, but I'm also fairly indifferent to the Wheeljack mould (and it looks much worse here) and Im not a fan of Sunstreaker.
I actually think Jazz and Trailbreaker look quite good. But even at half price that would basically be paying full price for the 3 figures I like, but 2 of which I dont particularly need or care about.
The (new) photographer does seem a lot better.

Yes, it is a dick move to include a character that everyone wants alongside four molds which are not substantially different to their original releases, which were themselves ending up being clearanced in many stores a couple of years ago, but have you considered that Hasbro needs to maintain constant growth year on year in order to protect those executive level bonuses? We all need to remember what's really important.

I mentioned on the call last night that 5 pack Hound has some deco changes from his intended Buzzworthy version: Upper legs, hand gun and missile are the most obvious. Extra yellow stripe on each arm. Face, engine and mirrors |
