The problem with that mindset is it just gives them the message that the likes of Arcee, PotP Elita, and forcing every other female TF into the potp Moonracer bodytype, that they can just pump in the absolute minimal effort into female TFs, and people will still keep buying them. But the unfortunate flipside to that is if we stop buying them because this isn't acceptible, the message they take away is "no one wants girl bots" We're trapped in a toxic feedback loop. Personally, when it comes to any toy line I really don't care if they are girls or boys. If I think something looks cool/fun and/or is based on a character I like I buy it. If I don't like the look of it, I pass on it and buy something else instead. The other day I bought Lancer. The gender of the character is irrelevant to me: I bought it because I like the silly colours. -Ralph

If I don't like the look of it, I pass on it and buy something else instead. The other day I bought Lancer. The gender of the character is irrelevant to me: I bought it because I like the silly colours. I mean there's an element of that to it, too. And I've not got all the female PottoP characters just because I got bored of them all being the same mold. But there's also loads of female characters I'd like to see receive toys, because I like those characters - Anode, Lug, Nickel, Velocity, and I'd love to see a good Nautica. And I'd love one day to get an MP Windblade (although I know that'll never happen). But I do still worry that Hasbro might still consider that female characters aren't as desirable (as possibly evidenced by them not putting bot Arcee and Windblade into the same Cyberverse lines - despite Windblade being the show's secondary character (primary, really, especially in the third season)), hence the need to support them in particular. Although that toxic loop is indeed a concern...

Transformers is now where superhero action figures (like dcuc and marvel legends) were several years ago. 25 years ago they would rather do three more Batman variants than one Batgirl (who's one of the most famous female superheroes of all time). We'd occasionally be given a Catwoman. If we did get someone more obscure, it would be a minimal effort repaint sold as an exclusive (Toybiz reused Rogue for so many different women) Now you can walk into the store and see waves lined with female characters who are as obscure as their male counterparts. Who generally have scupting equal to them. You can find AoA Blink, Runaways Nico Minoru, Spoiler, Katana, Cassandra Sandsmark Wondergirl. She-Hulk, Sue Storm, TWO Kamala Khans, multiple Spider-Gwens. Squirrel Girl.Unlike twenty years ago, female characters getting action figures is no longer a remarkable event. Now we can afford ourselves to be happy that X or Y characters are finally being made because she looks cool or is an obscure character we really loved. Wonder Woman and Captain Marvel getting figures are as much a given, as Superman and Captain America. If they don't turn up now, they will eventually. Transformers is still stuck where these were about 15 years ago, where we're seeing our "Captain Marvel" and "Black Widow" turn up pretty consistently, but "Invisible Woman" keeps getting shuffled off to exclusives, while "Blink" and "Sister Grimm" don't stand a chance. We're kinda worse off actually, because TF fandom is full of a very loud minority of people who still say female coded transformers shouldn't even exist.

As for ER Arcee, I think I'll pass. I would like a Sunbow style one, but it looks a bit poo. I'm pretty happy with my TR Arcee so that is good enough for me. Though as I said earlier, if a Sunbow Arcee pops up in RED (if that line is A: good and B: survives) I would be up for that.
I think the Cyberverse Deluxe Arcee looks like good fun though is an arse (no pun intended) to get a hold of. My pre-order was cancelled as Hasbro didn't supply stock!
I did miss out on POTP Elita-One. It looked good but wasn't paying full price due to the poor quality stickers of that era but never saw it on sale and then it was gone! So intrigued to see if one will pop up in W*NC.

I think the problem with Arcee is that we are only used to seeing her animation model. A sunbow acurate Hot Rod or Kup should be just as difficult but we are more forgiving with iterations of them because we have been used to seeing them as clunky toys from the start. (That, as well as the fact that as she's female she HAS to look like a perfect underwear model for some reason).

Which is why I really like TR Arcee. Chunky robot, good alt mode, headmaster feature and it looks and feels like G1 Arcee even though it's a very different design.
It's a shame it was a hard to get exclusive so more folk could have tried it.

They did friggin' magic with converting Derek Wyatt's art. Some of those seemed impossible to turn into fully workable toys while keeping shockingly accurate to the aesthetic. Add to that, we have three Arcee's other than this one who all manage to do a much better job: animated, cyberverse deluxe, and masterpiece. Now I know TFA and Cyberverse are a different aesthetic. But it's still the same basic car, the same basic robot design. If you were to just cop the engineering from them and apply the coveted sunbow aesthetics, you would end up with something with better proportions than "t30," and all around better than ER.
I mean dude, MP Blackarachnia is a feat of sorcery. An animation accurate transforming BA without removing anything is far more difficult to achieve at any scale, than Arcee (which has been accomplished before). At the very least, her vehicle didn't need to look like a bar of soap.

I'm intrigued that there is a conscious design decision to give the weaponizer/modulator class toys inhuman heads. Does this come from the initial characters in the set like Six Gun having G1 faces that were adopted, or that this caste of Transformer is different to the others because their function is to separate into lots of parts.
Humans are quick to judge based on appearance. I wonder how these characters are supposed to speak and act.

Right, okay. The joke needs a name though. If you put "Is it OK to mount Slitherfangs on a plane?" it doesn't work because there's no reference to the plane being a transformer. If you put "Is it OK to mount Slitherfangs on a plane from the Transformers line though?" it sounds stupid. If you change 'Slitherfang' to 'snake', you give the joke away. The reason it works as a joke is because Slitherfang is the name of a transformer, so is Starscream, so if you change both for their alt modes you get a snake on a plane. Starscream is the most apt choice because although there are other transforming toy planes in shops at the moment, Starscream is currently the only one that is in the same line as Slitherfang. It's like a simple crossword clue, unpick Slitherfang and Starscream and work out the connection between the two and there's a joke. Doesn't work any other way.
