Apparently Astrotrain will be repacked in Earthrise with a new deco Did you see or hear that somewhere, or are hypothesizing? This thread has been my primary source this time, as TFW's coverage has been virtually non-existant. Post should have a TFU tweet attached. Bear with, will fix.

So regret buying the Siege Skywarp set now, but I'm glad I didn't get as far as ordering Thundercracker. Siege Prime, Starscream and Skywarp can all go on the chuck out pile. Which is just ridiculous. I've had Starscream for five months and Skywarp for just over one. I regret binning all the boxes thinking I'd never want to part with such good toys. IIRC Shockprowl was still after Skywarp and only wanted the jet, which would mean you kept the Battlemasters. Siege Starscream by himself would then serve as a solo example of a Colonial Tetrajet. Op..... oh dear. Is Nick prepared for the mountain of Siege Ops that will be donated?

Military Patrol: Bombshock and Tracer Hmm, I thought Tracer was going to be a Flak retool, his 10 pack repaint Cratermaker had a new head and chest just like Tracer tfwiki.net/wiki/Cratermaker**** me that's clever. Yes, the Military Patrol do reuse parts from the battle Patrol: the grey frame used for Topshot's Gun, upper legs & heel spurs and Flak's handle and upper legs. However Bombshock has Topshot's Gun & heelspurs, but Flak's upper legs while Tracer has Flak's handle & Topshot's upper legs

Cliffjumper: *YEARS* ago we discussed the problem with doing an MP Cliffjumper MP Cliffjumper, and thus Hubcap, is potentially a big problem As is well detailed his toy vehicle mode is a super deformed Porsche 924 Turbo tfwiki.net/wiki/Cliffjumper_%28G1%29/toys#Generation_1His cartoon version resembles the toy tfwiki.net/wiki/Cliffjumper_%28G1%29#The_Transformers_cartoonThe real life Porsche 924 looks NOTHING like that en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Porsche_924So what vehicle to that go with? A cartoon like version, essentially a squared off Bumblebee, or something that, while acurate, looks nothing like what people think Cliffjumper looks like and may have an impact on the robot mode. An acurate car version has the advantage that it would be easier to do a Hubcap as it would be different to BB. And I suppose create a backdoor oppotunity for a showish Cliffjumper as a red BB repaint. Phil's demonstrated the problem very clearly. Underlying Takara's desire to produce animation accurate robots they've also been trying to produce accurate licensed car modes, which is fine for the car robots but won't work for minibots who had obviously super deformed car modes. They've got away with Bumblebee because his car mode is still 'cute' when real world accurate compared to others, and Badcube got Brawn right because Brawn's car mode doesn't look deformed anyway. It's just smaller. But you can't win with Cliffjumper. There's just no way to do him and cover all the bases. I think they'd have to go with what they've started and do a real world accurate car, but given the mess they seem to have made of Ironhide in trying to mix cartoon and vehicle I wouldn't have high hopes for the end result. This demonstrates some of those problems. Front on he looks like a flat chested Cliffjumper. From the side however There's something really odd goig on with the legs and havig the front of the car as just shoes doesn't work like it did with the Minibot or Classics moulds

Very keen to know how tall that is. Given the height difference between Prowl and Ironhide to preserve the scale they're using, can we hope this is a diddy Deluxe made up to price using the whopper gun? I'm down for him being significantly shorter than Prowl but still being Deluxe because of the gun, like Leaders are now Voyagers with extra bits.

I love it, personally. It's not stupidly undersized like the legends, it looks like a real (albeit generic) sportscar, and it looks like Cliffjumper should in robot, though leaning towards a sunbow/classics hybrid.

Wow.
Ok.
Lots of information.
Errrr.....
Ummmmmm......
I need more information. Not blown away by anything other than that superb looking Hoist. Even the Wheeljack looks questionable (especially next to the brilliant Generations Wheeljack).
Starscream looks like a remolded Siegeker...
huh

Feeling slightly underwhelmed by Earthrise so far (though happy for the people for who it works!). For me I don't feel I need any Sunbow-esque Ops / Grapples / Wheeljacks beyond the MPs, and Hoist looks kind of ok but I prefer the dumpier proportions of the original toy, and I always hate it when they mix clear and painted windows.
I could be tempted by that new strike plane mould as Skywarp as I missed out on the Classics release, and the Siege version is a bit too heavy on the black.
Right now I'm mainly in it for Ironworks and the Micromasters and any more bases / micros that follow. They look great!

I know it is just me, and I know that most folk aren't even going to understand why it bugs me... They only gave Wheeljack half his weapons again...
Now that niggle is out of the way. There are some decent stuff in these recent reveals - Hoist looks really good, far, far better than the previous attempt they did. I like the idea of shield-masters to go with the existing Battlemasters, that feels like a fun idea.
Not a fan of the Cliffjumper. Mostly because of the weird pile-up of parts that his rear torso looks like. The rest of him isn't a bad stab at a Sunbow-style Cliffjumper though, so I can see what they were going for.
The Starscream is doing absolutely nothing for me. It feels very much like a bigger version of the Classics-scream, and I'm not sure that works in its favour. Things that the Classics version mostly got away with due to the smaller size - the intake fan kibble underneath in fighter mode, the fact that the centre of the dorsal side of the fighter mode is basically hollow with a huge hole in it, the lack of any sides to the humanoid torse - all feel like they are going to be magnified in impact on a larger toy. It just kind of feels like "here is an older toy, only bigger". Absolutely great for folk who weren't around when Classics came out. But it isn't really doing anything for me. It is kind of the reverse of the Skyfire from Siege. That is a design I wasn't a fan of, and hadn't expected to see done as a toy. But the very fact that I wasn't expecting it wins its points. The fact that it is a clever rendition of a design I don't like also oddly makes me more tempted by it. But conversely, this Starscream is just stuff I've seen before without a compelling draw for me to buy another Starscream.
I want Ironworks though, and I'm similarly interested in any other toys like him this line does. They could end up being my main interest in this line.

But conversely, this Starscream is just stuff I've seen before without a compelling draw for me to buy another Starscream. I liked Classics Starscream and regret moving mine on, and could sympathise with the size problem, so a larger version is almost exactly what I'm after. T30 Legend was nice, but too small, CW Leader was too big, TR Voyager was a chunky chap in robot mode and a mess as a vehicle and rage Siege jet mode was poor. So big win for me. Have you handled Jetfire yet? We'll fix that tomorrow if you haven't.

I wonder if this mold is the reason we didn't get Siege G2 Starscream to counter G2 Sideswipe, and why we didn't get Siege Sunstorm?
But we now have the new definitive version, even if it's 100% based on the 15yo last definitive version, flaws and all. So like Optimus, lets let this design rest for a while. Next Starscream needs to be one of these: -Infiltration -Cybertron -War Within -Machine Wars -Beast Wars -Armada (voyager)
I wouldn't be thrilled, but I'd not even complain over TFP.

ER Starscream is literally what Ive been asking for for a decade or so. Im not even mad that its coming out less than 4 months after I picked up all 6 Seige tetrajets.
I am glad though that the physical toy got revealed right away because the renders make the torso look way more boxy than it is. If Id only seen the render I'd be cranky that they got so close and then mucked it up.
Somewhat like I am about Prime and his grey hands.
