This has probably already been discussed or voted on before, but if it hasn't I'm just curious:
What is your favourite or what do you consider the definitive ending to the Marvel comics?
Another Time & Place? Generation 2? or Regeneration 2?
I have always favoured Another Time & Place.

ATAP for all sorts of reasons.
Best story, characterisation, writing, art. Most satisfying wrap-up. And it's definitive because it was the ending endorsed by the US and UK comics when they ended.
It was compatible with both the US and UK storylines, and is also the only one that doesn't take TFs too far from the mainstream Marvel and G.I. Joe comic universes.

'Peace' as it was the ending given in the original series.

I'm torn between Peace and ATAP.
ATAP I have a lot of fondness for, having spent several years bringing it to life in comic form, but I have to say that I think that Peace would ultimately be the end point and it's compatible with G2.

I suppose 'Peace' could be a plausible ending if the last Transformers standing were the Wreckers, Technobots and Rodimus Prime - a well-meaning but poor leader and a bunch of killers. It's pretty much the same as the Decepticons winning, I suppose. But it always seemed unlikely that it would end that way to me, because of how Earth and Nebulos irrevocably changed the course of TF evolution. To me, the days of plain old Transformers fighting Transformers were numbered once you had a human Matrix-bearer dreaming up the next generation of Transformers (Earthen, not Cybertronian), once you had Circuit-Breaker and Road-Jammer tech and TFs in the Internet and humans turning into TFs' heads and guns and engines, and organic outer shells, and TFs the size of humans, and Nucleon from Hydrus Four, and mutants (which is basically what the Neo-Knights were), and therefore the possibility of Powermasters etc. with superpowered human partners... No, it was never going to return to just vanilla robots killing other vanilla robots on Cybertron.
TFUS #79, 'The Last Autobot', in which Spike and Fortress Maximus accepted the role of Earth's new guardian and took out Galvatron, and then #80 with the Last Autobot creating a new Optimus Prime with a Nebulan at its core, and then humans fighting side by side with Autobots to defeat the Decepticons, all pointed in that direction.
I suppose 'Another Time and Place' was something of a reversion to straight Autobot vs Decepticon, but the Prime that it featured was half-Nebulan, and the battle was over a wonder-fuel invented by aliens on an alien planet. If there was one thing I'd change about it though, it would be to have it acknowledge the changed relationship with the humans of Earth - who are now in possession of the Ark and numerous abandoned bases and deactivated TFs therein, not to mention Fort Max. Prime said in #80 that they'd return the Neo-Knights to Earth. I'd like to see what went on when they did - and afterwards.

I don't think the definitive ending has been written. Not for me. 'Peace' is too far removed. 'ATAP' is good, but felt a little... rushed? Like the grand threat of Bludgeons Decepticons going off to rebuild in secret and strike back peters out after Prime and Grimlock punch Zombie Megatron. I like them both, but as endings, neither sit right, and nor does ReGen. G2 doesn't really end either.
Only one thing for it. Have to take inspiration from Martin here, and write my own continuation/ending!

THE END OF THE ROAD.
Awesome. Emotional. Finite. Great story. Lots of Prowl. Happy ending. Perfect.
Could be the best Transformers story I've ever read, thanks to my Hubby chums.

Optimus sacrificing himself to destroy Unicron. Grimlock and Prowl. The Last Autobot. Optimus merging with Hi-Q and coming back at the end.

Yes, I thought that's the one you meant, but a year earlier Furman wrote his last TFUK story, and it had the same name: https://tfwiki.net/wiki/End_of_the_Road!_(UK)Martin
