The problem is $350 isn't much more than the current MP line. Im not sure what does justify a build to order toy at that price.

True. Lot to consider there though. You'd like to think the materials and finish on the MPs is part of what increases the price, whereas Generations style isn't so premium. There is also the fact that Takara seem to be up themselves with that 3.0 style, thinking they're Hot Toys all of a sudden with a price that Transformers as a brand doesn't seem to have supported given the style switch on Skids.
It's true that the Sentinel and Razor don't have transformation mechanics to worry about, but $350 there has allowed for a product significantly different to the retail toys. Thing is now we know an Ark is coming, I can't think what a Transformers toy more than twice the price of Scorponok could be.
As ever, I'd be down for playsets. They'd be Sunbow obviously, so give us the crashed Ark or Shockwave's tower on Cybertron. Hasbro have made a big thing about making all characters in robot mode scale since Siege, so give us a backdrop to put them in.

Course they won't do that. They're not going to release something that doesn't transform.

I still say funding multiple new molds with retools in a large wave is the best use for Transformers. Because there's always a push and pull between fandom and hasbro about non-g1 updates. This is a good way for Hasbro to say "You want a Beast Machines update line? Put your money where your mouth is." But to me, Haslab doesn't (nor shouldn't) be only about "what's too expensive to sell normally?" It should be about "What do fans want, that wouldn't/might not turn a profit otherwise?" Transformer playsets that don't turn into robots. Like the spacebridge, the Axalon's bridge, or Autobot HQ. They could make a pretty big spacebridge playset (three foot diameter) for relatively cheap.

Oh my word. A spacebridge set! Twenty of the same circular pieces with a central hub. No way would that cost $350 but I'd definitely buy it.

Maybe if they sold both ends? Shockwaves tower and the circular receiver. And the wee car that a Refracktor can sit in.

He's mighty impressive. But yeah, too humongous to play with. I bet he's got some equally humongous kibble going on. What's that on his lower legs? And the backpack?

Planet mode shell!
I keep seeing pictures of it in the BW book: Phil wants Neo Unicron!

Course they won't do that. They're not going to release something that doesn't transform. Like they'd never do an Ark, because it doesn't transform. Whatever they do next, I just hope it's not a key character peice like Unicron.

I keep looking at that Unicron thinking, how stable is it going to be without the stand to hold it up?

Yeah. Straightforward playsets will never happen at retail. They'd need to turn into a robot. Plus, playsets in general aren't really much of a thing anymore, period, outside of toylines like Imaginex. The last major scale playset I can remember is the TMNT 2012 series sewer playset. RotTMNT was supposed to have one but I never saw it outside of toyfair promos.
So...a sunbow styled Spacebridge playset, I think should be made up of repeating sections like someone mentioned above. But I also think these sections could be assembled to the ground based bridge, or taken apart and reassembled into Shockwave's tower.
An Axalon playset should be able to "transform" from the Bridge to the Axalon. Tier 1 adds a stasis pod that can hold a reasonable deluxe. Tier 2 adds a protoform. Tier 3 adds a Battle Damaged Optimus Primal retool for the CR Chamber.

Just seen this! Holy Cow that's a big unicron. But it's too small. If Hasbro release a full body, transforming Unicron Adult costume I might just consider it. It would be perfect for Micormaster/WST Scale.

Unicron's a whole planet. There is no feasible size they could produce that would put him in scale with any toy. He'd end up being the size of the chicxulub asteroid. And even that would have him scaled as a small moon.
So for me, at least, scale is meaningless for Unicron. So may as well make him a fun toy. Any class works (though I'd prefer Commander)

Put Unicron in planet mode and move it into the distance. Scale sorted

Or put Unicron really close to you and have all the rest of your figures really far away.

Seems to be something of a kerfuffle going on about this figure - people annoyed that there are notable colour differences to the images used to sell the toy. Apparently the inner mouth in planet mode is blue when it should be orange and in robot mode his lower row of teeth are also blue and don't match the rest of the mouth.

I will say that for $600, this figure needs to be damned perfect. Every paint detail needed needs to be included.
This isn't just another $10-$120 retail toy.
