Im guessing a lot of the losses are people cancelling orders to friends in the states and reordering with Kapow.

So if you do assume that the losses are all going to Kapow, that still doesn't push it anywhere near over the line. Kapow have got to be sitting on a heckuva lot of orders to do that. But then, they are the sole supplier in Europe, too...
It might be feasible, at that.

A difficulty a few folk have pointed out though is that the Kapow option opened up with just over a fortnight to go. There may be fans who would have paid the £605 asking price but couldn't with such short notice.

Still not sure Kapow are coming to the rescue on this one - the main European mainland importers have had unofficial preorders up for a while now, and I wouldn't underestimate customer loyalty making it unlikely that some people would cancel their preorders and switch to Kapow. Especially given higher shipping costs _and_ Brexit uncertainty.

For me its not so much they are coming to the rescue as they are providing possibly a more secure way to buy.
While Im grateful to any company that jumped in to offer them before Hasbro were forced to out of panic, it does seem there a longer supply chain with more chnce of issues from the non Kapow options.
Lets say worst case senario for brexit results in TFE and Kapow going out of business. I could be completely wrong, but I'd expect buying from the company with a direct deal with Hasbro UK has the better chance of me ending up with a Unicron.
Admittedly Kapows shorter supply chain being in efect Hasbro UK is hardly a confidence boost.

I mean, they just went this big, and this expensive purely for bragging rights. Unicron could be any size they wanted (unlike a playset/vehicle for action figures), as Unicron would never scale with any other toy. He wouldn't be any worse off at titan, or commander size. Basically, there's no reason on earth we couldn't have had a mass released Titan Unicron instead of PotP Predaking. And honestly, I think this is a terrible use of the kickstarter concept. Completely agreed. And he's a terrible looking shellformer from any angle other than full-frontal. And he's the colours of the G1 prototype instead of his classic G1 look. What are they saving the classic colours for - a repaint? And he's a ridiculous price. "Transformer History", my hairy crevice. This is Hasbro greed at its finest. Needless to say I've hard-noped out of this one. If this fails, as is looking increasingly likely, I be having a celebratory chortle.
