It's only just going to make it... I don't think it'll blow up like the barge did, but 8.5k wouldn't surprise me. TFSExpress closed their pre-orders this afternoon because they've been asked to get the funds ready to send. |

I've gone from 90% in to 90% out. I'm just not excited by it. I don't know where it would go. I think if I was burning £600 on Transformers in one hit, I'd rather do something like buy some Japanese G1 stuff or make a play for completing an era. FT Superion/Menasor are going to cost more than £600 but that makes me think, YEAH! LOOK AT THOSE TEAMS TOGETHER BABY! I look at Unicron and think, 'but what would I do with it?' It's that feeling I got when I bought Fort Max - he would go in his box and I'd be on to the next thing in less than an hour. |

Owning Max has made me realise I couldn't have anything bigger. I have literally no room and it turns out I just don't get on with huuuuge figures, whereas I once thought I did!
Happy for those excited for him though, but also glad it's not for me!!

Yeah, that's very much the case. I live in a fairly small city flat, and one titan (Fort Max) is about all I have room for. I would have loved Metroplex and Scorponok, because I had them as a kid, but at that size? I just don't have the room.

I find I'm of the opinion these big figures need to act as bases. I can't have them out all the time, but when I was decorating this room and had space on the floor before all the shelves went in, having Trypticon in base mode sat a few feet from Metroplex with assorted figures decorating them looked amazing. It really was like a G1 play scene blown up to a larger scale. I can see a display using Omega and Devastator, or Devvy attacking Metroplex, and we now know we can do a whole 87 thing with Max in base mode being attacked by Scorponok's scorpion mode. But Unicron doesn't fit into that. He's a planet, not a city.
I think to make him work you have to go the route Simon Furman did after the film - as a head. Then you could have sections that open up, use him as a base for the remnants of the Decepticons post-movie. Then it has a purpose. As it stands, this one feels more like an expensive over-large ornament. You'd want to hang it somewhere in planet mode, but I don't want to spend £600 to do that.

I miss the old design team in that when they threw a bone to non-g1 fans, it was something like gen Waspinator or gen Armada Starscream. Now when they do, it's tweaking a g1 design towards a non-g1 design in a way that really borks up both (siege um, siege galaxy prime), and makes you wish they had gone one way or the other. |
