Caught the Channel 4 Greatest Spy Films thing last night. The winner was Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, which they had on after and annoyingly doesn't seem to be on 4OD thus forcing me to buy the DVD shortly. But that in turn got me looking at the TV version on imdb: www.imdb.com/title/tt0080297/That's one hell of a cast list. I must have that. Has anyone seen it?

Both versions are excellent and worth seeing, but the Alec Guinness TV series is superior because the Gary Oldman movie necessarily heavily abridges the story from the book, while the TV series tells it in full.
The TV series also has a sequel, Smiley's People, also starring Alec Guinness.
The DVDs of the two TV series cost next to nothing and also contain a John le Carre documentary.

I have not read the book or seen the TV version of TTSP. I have seen the film version which almost sent me into a coma. Just pish about bored men in rooms mumbling about moles and circuses.

Andu too, and then number 6 will clinch it!

Did you recognise the location in the last episode where "Gerald" was taken to?

Rewatched Tinker Tailor this week while I was in London. Great stuff. Batting down the order I spotted Alec Sabin's name on the credits, playing circus thug Fawn. I also spotted Peter Grimwade's name as one of the Production Assistants. There's a major part of your Earthshock casting. Come to think of it Beryl Reid's in Tinker Tailor too......
