Errr, no, actually. It was also featured in 6" Titanium Prowl's bio.

MORTAL ENEMIES OF LOGIC!!! I thought that's where you were going with that. I'd be more than happy to back you on that if it had actually been used or mentioned anywhere in the fiction.

Wait, what? Since when are Prowl and Shockwave bitter enemies? Shockprowl's right on this occasion. Both rank 9, both chief military strategists in their respective armies on coming to Earth, in command of the Autobots and Decepticons respectively in 1985 in the comic from Marvel TFUS #9 to 12. Both wanted to use the Creation Matrix to create super-warriors. Yup. They were opposite numbers / rivals character-wise. Martin

Oh, and they both have essentially the same weakness. Both speed 7, rank 9, courage 9, skill 9. They fight each other from the strategy room rather than face to face. Like playing chess remotely! Martin

Martin Statistical rivals based on a similar function in their respective ranks, but not in the narrative. Did they ever actually speak to each other?

Marvel/Sunbow/other media are not the be all and end all of Transformer's fiction, Pinwig! How many stories are untold?! How many stories exist IN YOUR MIND?! The stories of The Transformers are thought up by MEN. You are a MAN. I am a MAN. THE THOUGHTS OF MAN!!!

Statistical rivals based on a similar function in their respective ranks, but not in the narrative. Did they ever actually speak to each other? Do strategists directing opposing armies against each other have to speak to each other? Aren't their move and counter-move a conversation of sorts? But if you insist, they fought each other one-on-one for the entire duration of the lead strip in TFUK #286 (okay, mostly off-screen, but I'm sure it was a good one) and Shockwave was no doubt about to begin his "We meet at last, my long-time strategic nemesis, and it's checkmate and game over for you" speech when he eventually had Prowl at his mercy, but Grimlock impaled him with his sword, so we never got to hear it. Prior to that, I'm sure they compared logic notes ad nauseum while trapped in Limbo, and Prowl spent many happy hours listening to Shockwave rant on via that bugged telephone in Blackrocks's aerospace plant. I'm just using conversation as an example. One off-panel battle 286 issues into an ongoing story doesn't really suggest great rivalry. By tech specs they just have the same job. Shockprowl's reasoning makes much more sense.

By tech specs they just have the same job. But not just any job, like medic or engineer or solo transformer assault group. Their jobs were explicitly to out-strategise the other army's strategist, i.e. each other! Martin

(Martin, I'm seriously going to leave my wife for you, I'm not kidding)
They're a great rivalry. Complicated by the fact there is no way Prowl could physically defeat Shockwave one-on-one, under 'normal' circumstances. That's not an option for Prowl. He has to do better.
But, end if the day, fellas...
I just want them to play CHESS together...

Logically, chief strategists will inevitably be rivals.

But different goals. Martin On the surface yes.. Hmmmm, interesting, I like this... Reminds me of Crisis if Command and that really good Nick Roche Prowl story. How far would Prowl's logic push him towards... towards The Darkness of Shockwave's interpretation of logic?

They both thought it would be a good idea to reunite Prime's head with his body. Until he shot Prowl. Then their opinions on the subject diverged. Martin

This debate has me thinking about the initial conversations that would be likely to have taken place when Prime, Prowl and Shockwave found themselves stranded together in Limbo in TFUK #100.
Prime: "Wait a minute, why am I even talking to you? You took my head off! I should take your head off!"
Shockwave: "And you threw me into a swamp! And stole my Jetfire!"
Prowl: "Stop complaining, I had to go into that swamp too, in order to retrieve Prime's head. And it was a fake head! And what thanks did I get for my troubles? I got shot!"
Shockwave: "Don't look at me! I'm not the one who shot you! He did!"
Prime: "Wait, what?"
Shockwave: "And you deserved it anyway. You were bugging my phones and listening to my private conversations!"
Prowl: "Tedious ranting would be a better description."
Shockwave: "I should have had Prime pull your head off!"
Prowl: "Try it! I heard Bumblebee beat you single-handedly with an energon cube when he thwarted your master plan to steal sonic energy from a rock concert."
Shockwave: "Ouch. That hurts."
Prowl: "Or maybe I should sic my pal Ratchet here on you. He beats up Decepticon Leaders all the time."
Prime: "Maybe I should just leave you two to it..."

I think if Prowl & Shockwave sat down to discuss everything logically then the whole TF conflict would be resolved in minutes.
