I was pretty much into everything except for Beast Wars. Love the show, was never really into the toys (other than a few like the Primal toys). Not a bad line at all, just not my personal taste toy-wise, mostly.

700? Yikes. Big Phil, you wouldn't consider swapping wives would you?
What's the drive behind other Hubber's collections?
I'm all about the nostalgia driven G1. Classics (or 'C.H.U.G.'), Masterpiece. And my Prowl collection of course. I have a healthy Beast Wars collection, which is a departure for me as I never saw the cartoon. I don't have much vintage G1 these days. I think mainly I'm all about the 'up-dated G1'.

I think mainly I'm all about the 'up-dated G1'. I dread to think how much more I have collected in the last half decade, but I have finally reached a point were I have cut back at least slightly. Not that I expect anyone to believe that. I tend to be selective about what I buy new at full price but my weakness has been for sales or when lines hit Home bargains and B&M at which point I have tended to randomly grab any old thing only for it to be quickly forgotten about. as much as I have enjoyed Prime I've tried to think very hard before buying the toys. I probably have the show cast and I did splurge on a bunch of voyagers I dont particularly care about 6 months ago which I will sell as soon as I can get something like what I paid for them. Other than that I'm not regretting any buys for the last year which is a nice change. I skipped most of DOTM and have generally avoided Cyberverse stuff since its launch and avoid legends too. Annoyingly have Metroplex is making me reconsider that and the Tesco Beast Hunters had to be bought once they were on sale. Right now my focus is about the same as yours. Masterpiece are great and infrequent enough that I dont mind the cost so much and anything that suits my classics collection.

We are brothers!
My last splurge was Movie figures. Somewhere inbetween movies 2 and 3 (I think). For some reasons, because although I've grown not to 'hate' the movie style, I'm still not a fan by anyone's standards. I think it was because the toys were everywhere. The kid in me snapped! But they've all gone now. Oh I had a few excellent fights with them all, but no, no no. They're gone now. Nostalgic G1 all the way for this handsome young Transformers collector, baby.

How many TFs have folkes got at the mo? Forty-one - 31 Autobots (all the UK releases from 1984-5 except for the Dinobots and Jumpstarters, which I've given away) and 10 Decepticons (the Insecticons, the Constructicons and Blitzwing). I did collect a bit of everything - several TFs from each year - until around 1993 when I realised that the ones from 1986 onwards looked rubbish and plasticky compared to the earlier ones, and started swapping them for 1984-5 ones, and buying the Classic re-releases. I don't think my collection has ever gone above more than about twice what it is now, but that was still too many to appreciate them. Much happier now that I've got it down to current levels. I don't like to hoard stuff unnecessarily. Martin

My ambition is ultimately to keep culling until I get to that level of figures for pretty much the same reasons.

I rarely sell things. I am very much of the "hoarder" type. I used to buy pretty much everything during the RiD-Armada-Energon-Cybertron period, but some particularly crap Cybertron figures cured me of that. I picked and chose a bit more after that- a few Masterpiece figures, and a lot -but by no means all- of the CHUG selection. The screenplays of the movies have successfully put me off buying anything from those ranges, even if I liked the aesthetic.
I've pretty much got all the classic figures I could ever wish for and likely a lot more besides. I love my combiner teams, so I've been buying third party combining figures as well as occasional other fellas that don't look out of place among the Classics and Universe chaps.
I also like Brave/Yuusha, Gobots and Rock Lords, Lego Star Wars and am tempted by the new line of Robo Force coming out.
Good thing I'm moving out.

We 'move in' at 0100 on Tuesday. *radio crackles*
I had quite a good collection but that went over a 3-4 year period ending about four years ago. I have still kept ~50 or so figures that I really liked/had nostalgia over, but most are packed away anyway. There have been a few over the last few years that I am hoping to pick up once I am earning a wage sufficient to again at the end of the year.

While my collection ever diminishes and I lack the space, funds or inclination to build it back up again other than the very occasional pick-up, I do still rather enjoy Transformers toys! I'm just more into admiring them from afar these days. I sometimes get a twinge from 'wish I still had toy x' but it never lasts long.

I think there is, for me a sweet spot above which I stop really appreciating things. I think my Transformers collection is still slightly above that point. Over the years I have owned a vast array of things, many of which have gone to Toy-Fu or charity shops, or other new homes. My collection size oscilates up and down over time, but has been steadily moving downwards over the last couple of years and I think it is settling towards a particular equilibrium. I suspect that I will still by things on and off, but the days of dashing out and buying entire lines are now far behind me. I think it is more likely that I will cherry-pick one or two things as they catch my interest.

I still enjoy playing with other people's toys but the 'must buy' impulse just doesn't seem to activate in me as often as I used to. I also feel I get more bang for my buck from Lego these days!

I'm so glad I never bought into the need for variants, proto's, lucky draw stuff. It all looks amazing and I have massive robot envy for the Mapes collection, but damn that is a mortgage amount on its own.

Looking at that makes me a little ill to be honest. One of those sharp moments of perspective when you think, what is all this for? I think if I had a collection that big I'd be quite depressed by the thought of what the money could have been used for. It's a bad enough addiction as it is. Focus is key I think.

Get to fu....further up the road. That's insane. I thought id collected a decent amount, I suppose in the relatively short time I've been collecting it is, but talking to everyone on here makes me realise I've barely scratched the surface. Looking at that collection makes me realise just how serious, and expensive, it can be.
How can you enjoy a collection that size? Most of its hidden. I get annoyed that my shelves being stacked 3 deep and I don't have space for all of it so I need to rotate some stuff on occasion. Maybe I'm missing the point of collecting. I think I'll stick to mostly collecting my favourites or stuff I really want, stuff that I'll enjoy admiring or playing with even just for nostalgia reasons.

I think Im closer to the Mapes territory than most on here. Phil seems to be in same area as me too and Nick from what I hear of his Scottish collection. Heck his English collection is not to be messed with.
On the one hand, yes too many. but I am attached to many (all my pre 2000 ones and lots of later ones.) and can get rid of the others at any time should the mood take me. Till then they have time to gain my interest, which does happen at times. Some Armada and Energon toys managed that recently after about a decade of being ignored. A fair bit of movie stuff has over the last few years too.

Welcome!
None of the toys I own are part of my original collection, due to damage and frequent moving they are long gone, so I am always slightly envious of people who have their original toys.

Allegedly, according to the books.
But I can recall seeing both Yellow Cliffjumper and Red Bumblebee in quantity and in fact struggling to find a yellow Bumblebee. The fact someone has TWO supports this.
