I'll do anything for trains, but I won't do that.

So this would put Raiden at £700-800? That is fucking insane. Even more expensive than Haslab Unicron!!!

Who is Moon Studio? -Ralph 3P company. Or rather Zeta Toys working under a Hasbro avoidance name. They have a decent track record for MP combiners and announced a Raiden around the time Takara did. The first two are due soon, proper MP size (24 cm robots) and cheaper than this. If you Google Moon Studio Raiden you'll find lots of pics.

RFC were musing on this this week; they're thinking maybe because this one is the core robot and chest piece it'll be more than the others. The limbs could even be remoulds of each other and might be cheaper. From that combined image there's a lot of symmetry. But £170 for something not even leader class sized and inevitably full of QC problems? I don't think so. Just looking at the ankles when the legs are extended is horrifying - there's a cavern in there. Not even solid. (I'm trying hard to talk myself out of this).

I know they're trying to accomplish a lot with this project, but that back could do with some work.

I know they're trying to accomplish a lot with this project, but that back could do with some work. It is pretty much accurate to the original Raiden there... The front end of several of the engines detached, folded out flat and got stuck onto the back of the humanoid mode iirc. They are just being true to the original version. I'm not sure how much they could have done with that chunk of the vehicle mode really, not and stayed true to the original humanoid mode design, given that it doesn't form part of the humanoid mode in any really meaningful way. I was already "out" on this anyway - I don't have enough affection for Raiden to want to pay the going rate for Masterpiece sized toys of the whole team. (If they'd made them much at a much smaller scale and done a boxed set at the £300 -£400 price range I might have been interested, but not at the price point per member these will be) Karl

But the whole point of MP is to update the original figures to fix these issues that were present in the originals... e.g. kibble, robot proportions (although why we think human proportions on an alien robot makes them better I don't know) and poor articulation etc.

Well that seals it. I'm not buying a pre-yellowed toy. That would annoy the hell out of me.

Even with the back kibble I think this looks marvelous! It has an old-school vibe to it I really like, and the off-white plastic only adds to that.
I'm seriously considering shifting my collecting habits for the next couple of years to accommodate this.

Train mode looks beautiful! Robot mode might have weird proportions, but it's hard to tell behind the text. Leg looks promising.

This is kind of when I miss G1 the most. I think I would just rather have the original nice set of trains into brick robots with limited mobility combiner reissue at an affordable price instead of this.

Looking good. If they were £70 a limb I'd probably be going for it.
