Sat chatting yesterday, a question came up I'm still pondering. When was the last Transformer with motorised movement released? (not counting reissues). I know we still get the occasional light up eyes or a sound chip in the Titans, but when was the last one that actually moved? Surely it wasn't Armada Prime's autoconversion? And how many have there been that move overall?

Great question
Also have we ever had Transformers with wind-up motors? And if not, why not?

Depends how you define wind up? the Throttlebots and Battlechargers are kind of wind up? or is pull back totally different?

Also have we ever had Transformers with wind-up motors? And if not, why not? If we did, they would no doubt be called Keymasters. Like Vinz Clortho the Keymaster of Gozer. Martin

The Ultimate Bumblebee was motorised - the robot moved it's limbs etc. and reacted to sound.

Technically Grandus! (Star Convoy has an adaptor that plugs into him to power his lift, but he doesn't have a battery himself)

I don't think Grandus counts because he just uses Star Convoy's roller. He can't do it on his own.

It has always puzzled me that in the entire (main) Transformers run there has never been a proper motorised Transforming figure. Yes there have been third party ones that are naff (and by third party, I mean actual licensed third party like Dickie etc) but how hard would it be to make a car that slowly transforms in a motorised fashion in the style of Jazz's conversion into a proper robot?

Armada Prime's trailer did! But apart from that, yeah. Plenty of spring-loaded ones though. I guess it's because complex motors would mean the figure breaks more easily and they want to make the figures robust.

Expense too. That one that came out of Japan recently was over three hundred quid.
Mind you that was a bit more than just a motorized transformation.

I thought that there was a larger motorized Skweeks, but it turns out that it's a non transforming RC toy.
If that counts, then it's probably the most recent motorized toy. If not, then I believe it's the ultimate bumblebee that was mentioned earlier.

Great question Also have we ever had Transformers with wind-up motors? And if not, why not? Not exactly motors, but you had to wind up the G2 Rotor Force's rotors by hand. Martin
