Well it's finished.
I've not read all the issues, but did succumb to the lure of the HC. My god Gary Frank's art is gorgeous.
We do kind of get the return of the fire elemental version of Firestorm via Mikhael Arkadin (once part of the Firestorm matrix) and called Pozhar. Thus meaning it's excellent. I have to say it's not really a Watchmen continuation at all, it's just - how can we squeeze the Watchmen characters into the DCU as a whole. (Whether that changes in the 2nd book remains for me at least to be seen) Requisite rude words, and attempted sexual assault in prison to hammer home how mature it is.
It's compentently written, aping the Watchmen structure, but it's ultimately an empty read if I am honest. My opinion on Geoff John's has never been the highest, I honestly, never saw what most people did. I'll grant you Green Lantern Rebirth was good (absolutely a step backwards) but good, but the strip-mining of Alan Moore's work in GL became laughable.

I know I am doomed to read this at some point. Heck, I eventually read all the Before Watchmen stuff (Darwyn Cooke stuff is great, avoid the rest).

The art is magnificent, but then Gary Frank has always been fantastic, sadly not always working with the best material.
