Listening to a podcast interview with the editor of this kickstarter project:
Sounds great, I like physical print collectibles, but I think the goal is a little ambitious. They're trying to get the money in to guarantee six bi-monthly issues - maybe it would have been better to go for a single pilot first.

I stumbled across the first issue in Forbidden Planet London a few weeks ago. It's fairly nice, though £11 for a 44 page issue is a little pricey.

Was there a further attempt to crowdfund it then?

I'm not sure. The website mentions that Toy Robot #6 is available for pre-order, which makes me think they've using a more traditional publishing model.

I meant to mention this magazine a couple of weeks ago. Issues 1 and 2 were released both at the same time through Diamond last month.
The price is actually fairly typical for a US import magazine.
The content is a good mix of topics, covering all sorts: well-known and obscure Transformers and other ranges, vintage books and merchandise, classic and current toys, interviews, toy restoration, licensed video games and other things. I haven't read them yet so don't know what the quality of writing is like.
Browsing issue 2 while writing this, I just discovered that Grimlock has a Magic The Gathering card.
